    Re: Rocker Q's.

Fuel rails are connected to the injectors, if that helps. I'm not sure how many bolts hold it down.

i know but you're supposed to be able to pull up the fuel rail to loosen the injectors....

Yup, told you they're stuck in there good. You might try sliding something in from the front to pry against the bottom of the fuel rail, but be careful. Yeah 2 bolts sounds right and those torx screws hold on the pressure regulator, should be about 6 or 7 of those. If it's off the plenum and you can wiggle it then it's ready to come out, just those O-rings like to stick.

          Re: Rocker Q's.

Sorry guys, i know i must be a headache to you, and I'm sure i must be one of the worst rookie mechanics out there.

I tried to get that fuel rail off today and i got so mad i almost called this whole thing off. I can't for the life of me get that fuel rail to budge more than a centimeter or two to the left or right. WTF. Is the rail supposed to physically come up from the plenum?? if so it aint movin. What exactly is holding that ****er down? I already took out the 2 bolts that hold it in... I thought maybe the wires from the fuel injector were holding it down but they have enough slack where they wouldnt be holding it down. Even if i did get the ****in thing up i don 't think i could get out those injectors cuz they're at a ridiculous angle! How exactly do you get the injectors out? do you just yank on the wires? pry them with a screw driver? i mean wtf. I was lying on the engine with my knees on the radiator trying to pry this thing loose in freezing temperatures.... i cant feel my fingers...i cant feel my face, i must be the biggest embarassment to the f body community. My only thought is that there is 1 torx screw where the actualy metal fuel lines enter the fuel rail... could that be holding it down? I really need help on this..... Sorry for the incompetance but i'm lost here.

          ANYBODY got an idea? :(

That's why the site's here man and/or chick.

Alright, let me break it down. The fuel rail is bolted to the plenum with those 2 bolts, the injectors are attached to the fuel rail with some clips, and the other end of the injectors is just an O ring. If you have the control wires off of the injectors, then there shouldn't be too much holding that plenum from coming out at this point. If you rock that plenum back and forth a few times, it should break all the gunk from 1993 to present that's built up, and free itself.

I don't think that you shouldn't call it off. If you've moved the plenum even a little I'd be affraid that there could be a leak in the gasket which will be more of a problem down the road (no pun intended)

thanx rob, the plenum is quite free from the lim, i can move it back and forth at will. are you saying that i should be pulling up on the plenum to remove the injectors? Nah i wouldnt give up now, i just felt like quitting. Whats the easiest way to get those injectors out? i can turn them side to side but pulling on them seems useless.

                  Re: Rocker Q's.

It's just that the injectors are in at about a 45° angle, so lifting straight up is out of the question. Pull up on one side then the other. If you have the fuel rail unbolted, put a screwdriver under it and pry GENTLY.

victory! my lord, we have sweet victory!!!

i used a screwdriver and finally got those suckers to break free!! o sweet victory! this might not seem like much to most of yall but to me this is very much awesome.

i'm ecstatic, i can see my lower intake! ok ok... now a few new Q's......

                    1. How do i clean off the LIM as to not get anything into the lim and the injector holes? theres a bunch of crud right now on top of it.
                    2. are the o rings on the injectors brown? if so i have them all still attached.
                    3. should i buy new o rings and put them on?
                    4. the plenum gasket is cracked in a few places, should i replace it?
                    5. is there anything else i should do like clean the injectors while i have them off... if so how do i do this?

                    thanks guys!!!

                    i'm so happy

FU¢K YEAH!!! Congrats! Have a banana...

Yes, replace the gasket and the O rings.

Plug the holes with clean shop rags or something, so you don't get any gasket in there when you clean that off, or did it go with the top?

I'm not sure what to clean the injectors with, I'd wipe them down with a shop rag just to get the dirt off, I don't think you should soak them or anything.

thanx for the help rob! i'm glad you understand how bad a$$ i feel. I'm gonna stuff those holes with some rags. The gasket came with the top, so no worries. I've done enough for today (hey i got the whole winter to get this thing finished  ) i'll pick up some O rings at advanced.

The only plenum gasket i've found has been with a whole gasket set, so does anybody know where to get ONLY the plenum gasket?

Should i take off the lim cuz its just sittin right there so maybe i should replace those gaskets while i'm there? i'm just throwin ideas out.

and i know theres a way to clean the injectors out so if anyone knows the procedure, please speak up! i might as well do it since i have the time.

I just got payed so next to be arriving will be the new valve covers, then soon after the new rockers! I'm actually foolin with the idea of puttin in a holley FPR while I have the fuel rail out... (Zahn i know you've done this so let me know if you think it's worth while to do at this point )

thanx rob for the help, you too zahn.

Theres gonna be more Q's to come, but til i get the valve covers and rocker arms i'm at a standstill.

Man if you have all winter, you should have taken the whole engine out. You will not believe how easy it is to take the plenum off with the engine out. LOL

nah i dont have a lift to take the engine out, besides i'd have to disconnect the tranny and **** like that but yeah i know what your saying...... let me know if ya got any other ideas for stuff i should replace/ things i should do while i have the engine taken apart this far.

btw zahn, could you get me the part # for that holley afpr? i was lookin over your site and it makes a lot of sense to put that on while the plenum is out of the car.
