  • How many of you are running 7k+ rev limiters?

I just had my limiter bumped to 7000 for spark and 7150 for fuel.

I have the promag full roller rockers (1.9) and #105 springs.

Now i shift at 6500. But just wondered how many of you guys actually have high rev limiters and if you have ever had any problems

A rev limiter limits how high you can rev your engine. I think, stock, it's like 5500 or 5800. Something like that. You'd change it so that you can rev higher, therefore producing power in the higher RPM ranges.

          You're kidding, right?

A rev limiter, limits your revs :D. It limits the RPMs of the motor to a certain number so you don't blow anything up :)

No Im Not Kidding, Sorry I Don't Know Everything About Cars.

I Had An Idea But The Thought Of Putting Your Rev Limiter Up At Like 7000 Rpm Seems A Little Nuts... I Thought Thats When Your Car Explodes.

His typing is called camel casing and should only be used by programmers. ;)

I'm also as retarded about tuning as he is. I would assume you make this change with HPT and that it can also be done with an automatic transmission without causing damage to it or the engine?

Re: How many of you are running 7k+ rev limiters?

yes it can be changed via HPT

No, it can cause MAJOR engine damage.
7k revs are too high for a pushrod motor with 105's

I wanna see what it does on a dyno. You might/might not be seeing more hp throughout each gear, but it would be easy to tell on a graph.
