  • compatible MAF without tuning?

I modified my 1997 3800 throttle body due to clearance reasons and cut off the section that houses the MAF. (The engine is in an isuzu pickup) I had been planning to run megasquirt for fuel and ignition control, which does not require a MAF.

I'm contemplating switching to the OEM EFI/ignition setup so I would need to plumb in a tube-style MAF. Has anyone found one 100% compatible with this ECM that I could plumb one in the intake tubing?

I understand you can make any MAF work by tuning but I am trying to switch back to stupid-simple and not get involved with HP Tuners, etc. Wiring changes are no problem but just looking for a MAF with the same output as the OEM one.

Switching back to the OEM throttle body and MAF isn't an option.

no, you will have to change the maf tables with any of the other mafs as they flow differently. You may be able to find a calibrated maf though and then tuning would not need to be done. I just picked up this MAF for my build:

I have to load a v8 table for it to work but I have hptuners. :) Oh yea and it has the IAT sensor right in the unit so I don't need to have a seperate sensor anymore either. ;)

If I go this route, of using an OEM ECM, it wouldn't be all that crazy to just tell the company I buy the ECM from which MAF I'm using and have them do the tune for me right?

you still need to tune the PCM for that MAF.

The MAF I bought is a brand new 02 Vette MAF. 85mm in size and IAT built in. Also can be found on trucks
