Re: calling all cammed 3.4
It's not terribly difficult to swap the cam. If you do it without pulling the engine you have to take off pretty much everything on the top of the motor except for the heads because you have to get the lifters and pushrods out. You'll need to get the radiator and fan out. The condenser can stay, just be careful not to push anything through it. Water pump, timing case cover and timing set will need to come off. Don't forget to take out the oil pump gear (its where a distributor would go in a typical 3.1/2.8 or small block). Then the cam can come out. Figure about 8 hrs of work to take the cam out and reinstall. If you've never done this b4 I'd get a Chiltons guide or check out alldatadiy.com, and take a full weekend to do this. When you pull the intake make sure you stuff some paper towels in the intake ports so nothing gets in there. I had a Crane and there was a defect and wiped out a couple of the lobes even though I broke it in properly. I'm running an Edelbrock cam now and love it.
Oh yea I don't think I really have to mention this but.... don't forget to take the paper towels out of the intake ports b4 reassembling.
