  • Hybrid almost complete (pics inside)

    Specs:

    Shortblock:

1995 Camaro block, rods and pistons,
    ARI .010" under crank,
    Clevite77 main and rod bearings,
    Sealed power cam bearings,
    Stock replacement oil pump,
    Stock replacement timing chain,

    Cam (int/exh):

    230/236 duration, .510/.520 valve lift, 110*LSA with a 4* advance (all at .050")
    New lifters

    Top end:

2004 3500 heads ported, polished, flat to .0005",
    1.6 aluminum full roller rockers,
    LS6 yellow valve springs,
    LS1 shims/seats

2004 3500 lower intake ported to a 2.5" area at the top and gasket matched on the bottom - runners polished the full length to a mirror shine,

2004 3500 plenum, also ported to 2.5" area, polished exterior

    TB:
Undecided, a ported Ford 65mm unit is pictured, but have a 70mm in mind (will have to port the plenum neck).

Valve covers are polished to a mirror shine (plenum has fingerprints on it, lol). Both will get a touch-up polish and laquered before installation into car.

    What do you think...

Desktop Dyno projects this engine to be 318bhp at 7000rpm (7200 redline). It's going in my third generation Firebird...

VERY NICE! I can't wait to see 1/4mi and dyno numbers. 318hp should get you around 270 rwhp, thats around 14 flat in the 1/4. I'd say not to shabby for a N/A, 12 valve pushrod, 3.4L V6 (with a flat tappet cam might I add).

BMW's new 335i has 300hp and they're using a turbo to that. I wonder what it feels like to spend $40K on your new turbo bimmer to get spanked by a N/A V6 FBody  .

Anyways, awesome job, I love the attention to detail you put into this project!

Where in South FL are you, if you don't mind my asking?

              All V6 Fbodies were 3.4's in 1995 ;)

              It's replacing a turbo 3.1.

After I make a few runs (and hope for dyno pulls), then I'm replacing the 3.4 for 3400 pistons and turbocharging it again - leaning towards twins since I already have one.

that is not true. They did make a handful of 95 3.8l cars late in the production year. So a 95 could be either a 3.4 or a 3.8l ;)

                          :P I was already corrected by 97rs4life.

The buyer did back out of the 3.1, so I'm going to make it a hybrid as well for a backup engine :D

I figure I'll make an external DIS wheel on the CNC, could also be used when I get a tubular k member and put a full 3500/3900 in. A guy in Tampa just finished a TT 3900 swap into a Fiero, curious to see what it's going to do - and can use some of his developments.

                              and the cam specs...

Not as big as I wanted to go, but the price was right.
