  • Port and Polish TB on a 3.4 works great!

I ordered a TB for my 3.4L Firebird last week and spent hours this week trying to replicate to the best of my ability the Port and Polish Job that Funk Z did with his throttle body. With his advice and some hard work and completed the job today and installed the TB. I must say that I was skeptical that I would feel a difference, but according to the butt dyno, ti definitely picked up some acceleration in the mid and top end range and I noticed a big improvement in throttle response. I don't have any completed photos of the job, but I will say it definitely was not has nice as the job Funkz did. I will try and get some soon. I just want to say that for any 3.4L owner, this is a mod you should definitely try.

I know this has been posted before, but for those looking for Funkz's P&P photos here is the link.

It is in the mods section.

Here are some pics of my mid way progress. This is after only the rough sanding had been done.

Could a Mod please move this to the intake section. Sorry wasn't paying attention when I posted it.

The polishing part to be honest did not turn out well at all. I used a 60grit and 120 grit sanding bit on my Dremel then I used a cutting wheel and a grinding wheel on the center support. Followed that with a thorough cleaning and then I used a felt pad and polish to shine it up and smooth it out. FunkZ could answer this question better than me.

using the sanding drum was a bad idea for me, at least on the plate

i did the TB earlier, used some 100 grit sandpaper (i think) to start, then moved to the wire dremel, then the brush dremel, then the polish dremel.... gonna get some sandpaper from autozone tomorrow and then polish it again.
