Hello I'm A New Member And I Have A '94 Camaro 3.4 V6, 5 Speed.
I'm Going To Rebuild The Motor And Was Trying To Find Out If I Can
Pull The Engine Out The Top , Has Anyone Done This ?
I got my engine to come out by playing YMCA. The motor started danceing and I said to the motor "your gay aren't you?" and the motor came out admitted it. I knew it was gay bacause if it wasn't it wouldn't be a v6, it would be a straight 6. Ha sorry. So what is the best way to pull the motor if you have no lift?
Viper has a pic on the other forum pulling the motor and tranny from the top. I think he just took off the upper intake manifold off.

I've done both top and bottom (after niik000's post that doesn't sound right). Anyways, you can get the engine out of the top, however it's easier to do everything through the bottom because you can basically remove the engine assembled and put it back in assembled. The only thing you really have to take off is the A/C compressor (assuming you don't want to evacuate the system), disconnect the driveshaft, brakes, exhaust, hoses (including fuel lines) and wiring. Then the whole assembly comes out the bottom. If you don't have a lift, I've seen people use a cherry picker and wrap a strap around the front nose (bumber cover to behind the radiator). I used a forklift and jackstands and lifted it by the radiator core support (just don't try to do that with the engine in, it'll probably bend).
It's much easier to work on the engine outside the car than inside the car.
We pulled the engine in my 94 3.4 firebird while leaving the tranny on by lifting the front end up on standsand and tilting the back end of the tranny down. its a pain in the *** but even harder to get to the upper tranny bolts. i would reccomend pputting it back in like that also

this is from my 00 bird, but its the same principle, its really easy this way.
