  • Need your opinion on cam

Alright guys, its time to install some more toys. I've had the SLP 1.8 rocker arm set for a while now and want to install it with a cam. I dont want the spray, but want the most power out of it. This is what I got on the car now,

    -Clear Image Ceramic Coated Headers
    -High Flow Cat
    -2.5" Borla Catback Exhaust
    -Cold Air Intake
    -160 Degree Thermostat
    -B&M Tranny Cooler
    -Transgo Shift Kit
-2800 Stall Stealth Thruster Torque Converter
    -Taylor Wires NGK Stock Plugs
    -MSD Ignition Box with Coils
    -LCA PHR STB
    ...think thats it

so with the 1.8 SLP Rocker Arms, what cam would give me the most power out of the engine after getting it tuned?

If I do this, Im doing it all the way!

Re: Need your opinion on cam

you're going to need some headwork to make room for a cam and the 1.8 rockers. max lift you can run is around .550 or so on stock heads. Those rockers would put the GT1 (fairly small cam) at .570

Depends on if you want to go all out and upgrade all/most of your valvetrain.. then you can run a pretty big cam.

Are you planning on staying N/A?

BTW you will probably have to sell the rocker arms.

Could always get a custom ground cam.. but it's easier to get one that you know makes good gains.

See, this is why I stress knowing what your ultimate goals are, and not just buying parts willy nilly, or picking up stuff because everyone says to get it, even though none of them have any real experience with the part.
If you want any sort of cam, sell those rockers and use the money to buy a camshaft; trust me, there are plenty of chumps out there that will buy them off of you. If you want to keep your rockers, then get forget camming your car

That is true, your not going to be able to run a aftermarket cam with 1.8's. I can't even run 1.7's with my cam.

Any lift past .550" is a waste of time and money on stock heads anyhow. They don't flow any better at really high lift. 1.8s with a nice cam on some extremely ported heads would be nice.
