      Re: cam

FALSE! I was running stock tune and internals with my cam (GT2). There are a few stock-tune cams out there, just gotta look around. Of course, a tune will only make it better :)

He specified no cam, and neither did I. There are cams for the 3800SII that require extensive tuning. So, as vague as the OP's question is, my vague response is still true.

          Re: cam

I wouldn't run a big cam without a scanner or something to flash the pcm, I ran my VS cam without any flashing software, but still scanned it for KR and fuel trims. The VS cam was a little bigger then stock though. I guess it depends on what cam your going with to determine if you need a tune. You could pick any cam and I'm sure someone else has used it and you could email them to see what needs to be done.

How long did your motor last after you put the GT2 in it?

I spun a bearing due to improper break in of the cam. After I sun the bearing, I was told I'm supposed to change the oil the first 500 miles, and use conventional, not synthetic :P. However, with everything apart, the rods and pistons are in good shape, along with the valves, springs, etc. I just had everything redone, just to be on the safe side. Plus, supposedly what I thought was stock internals in my car, aren't stock after all :).

Smoke: I hear what you're saying. Just, to me it seemed like he was asking if it was possible to run a cam without getting a tune, in which case, my answer would be more appropriate.
