Re: Engine bogging, everything looks normal though...

thats the million dollar question... how the hell do you find a vacuum leak w/o being able to hear a hissing noise cuz the engine wont stay running long enuf???

How many vacuum lines are big enuf to stall out the engine?? back when i used seafoam last summer (like 3 times) even that huge brake booster hose had to be wide open for like 5 secs before it begrudgingly stalled... and even then i think i remember just giving it gas to keep it running. I dont wanna go thru every single little hose to see if theres a pinhole leak cuz, honestly, i dont think thats an issue! whatever it is, its gotta be huge to do this.

does anyone have vacuum hose diagrams??

      I give up.

Took each wire off and threw one of the old plugs on. Sparks all around. Unplugged the MAF... no difference.

Its at the shop so the pros can handle it now. I'll post up tomorrow what they say is wrong with it. Thanks for the help guys...

      I hate losing.... grrr..

Interesting story. When my fuel pump died it went w/o warning. One moment it was fine and I was flying down the road at 80 mph, the next moment I was coasting to a stop in the middle of nowhere. Cost $1153 to get it replaced. It only went 49K miles.

Fuel pump is easy. If you do it the easy way by cutting then get some thin sheet metal and that sticky weather stripping too. And a couple of self tappers. SHORT self tappers.

even if you somehow messed up and broke the new fuel pump by doing it yourself it will still cost less than having a shop do it

true, but dropping my (99% full) gas tank is not something i'm very comfortable doing out on the shoulder of a busy road lol... who knows what kind of crud would float into my open gas tank while I was doing that...

that, and I have all the electronics for my sound system hooked up and bolted straight to the sheetmetal on the top there, so cutting an access hole would mean I have to take all that crap off and rewire it and put more holes in my sheetmetal to reattach. And I dont have a welder. That and sparks+gas tank doesnt exactly make me jump at that solution...

In the end, its worth it to me to pay the 850 bucks to a local shop that does good work and save me the huge PITA, so I can focus on kickin back and relaxing for the week until my new job starts.
