    Re: heads decked?

Im talking to the mechanic tomorrow morning I will find out more. I assumed it was nothing major but I'll do some more digging tomorrow. As it was said before Im paying a profesional mechanic and shop and getting a 3yr 36k mile warranty from an established shop that has been in buisness here for 26yrs so Im really not worried about the quality of the job .

yea it sounded like ure man was good but he was making it sound like it was a matter of luck to get a straight set of heads and if they werent perfect your motor was gonna break in half

If you get your heads milled or go to a thinner head gasket, make sure you check your pushrod length. Also, would be wise to put some clay on top of the pistons and check piston to valve clearenace especially if you go with flat tops. Mr. Valve does not like meeting mr. piston.

Talked to the shop today went down there and had them walk me through everything. I have to say Im thoroughly impressed and these guys know their trade. I'm having them use all top shelf parts and bolts. There basicaly not doing a full deck job but taking the heads and evening them out along with tightening up the bottom end They are using a computer controlled process which provides a 4 point measuring while the work is being done. Also having the valves seated and replaced etc, and boring it out .20 Overall totaly impressed and will let you guys know the results should have her abck by the end of next week. Looking to add around 30 ponies and like I said in the first post the compresion should not change by more than one point. The last question I have is how do I do a tune for this or do I even need one, since they wil be setting the timing etc on install is there realy anything thats going to be effected on the cpu?

There is no timing to set on the install, it's a fixed trigger. It's all in the PCM. 1 point higher in compression I'd say your going to get quite a bit of knock retard until you get it tuned. Run nothing but 93 octane.
