Im thinking about a cam swap, but my car has 155k miles on the engine. My friend was telling me that high mileage LT1 cars would swap in a new cam, and then a couple weeks later they would burn up their cam bearings.

would that be a problem with our engines?

Meaty if your over 100,000 miles and you keep modding it I would do a engine rebuild, thats just me though. I had mine rebuilt at 120,000 miles with Diamond 9:5.1 forged pistons that came with total seal piston rings, L32 rods, Vs cam , Clev. 77 bearings all around, timing chain, etc. So just keep in mind how much performance you want to achieve from it, then decide from there. My # is 350-360 HP which I hope to get with the nitrous. Also my goal for the track is 12's with the nitrous. N/A I hope to get low 14's or high 13's with more weight reduction. If the engine blows to the point I need to rebuild it again, I'm putting in a 6.0L GTO engine/A4 tranny with LT's and tub. K. member.

      Re: Cam bearings

i have never heard of this before.. it sounds like people are nicking the bearings when putting the cam in and that is why they are "burning up"

Watch any Auto show, and when they are spicing up an older high mileage motor, they are always replacing the cam bearings. they are cheap and easy to do. Bearings wear out, I would reccommend it. but im no auto mechanic. just a bike mech. lol
