ok didnt know where to put this sorry if its in the wrong section. I got my car back after a complete rebuild 2 days ago. Today I was running some errands and the check engine light came on at exactly 100miles. So no biggy I thought car is running good no sounds or ticks all gauges are good oil pressure is good. Well Im going home and the light flashes at me a couple times as Im going to down the freeway at about 75. I freak out cuz this is exactly what happened when I threw a rod last time. Anyway I slow down to 50 on the freeway and dont go above it for the next 5 miles to the offramp. I get off pop the hood check everything out everything looks normal the engine is running good no stumbles or surges nothing out of the ordinary but its got me woried to drive it the 50miles back to the shop on Tuesday. Whats your guys opinion, and what is the imprtance of when the check engine light flashes. I hagve only ever seen it once before and it was right before impending doom. Should I be worried about driving back to the shop on tuesday? Should I pay for the 150 tow or drive it cuz its under warranty?

Re: Engine light advice
Well it only flashed once maybe twiced and stopped and i havent noticed any misfiring at idle. The shop I got the rebuild done at gave me a 24k warranty and they wanted the car back at 500miles to check it out. I will say this the only thing I did not have replaced on the car was the distributor wires to the plugs could this be the culprit?

Re: Engine light advice
I did check my loom tonight and my 2nd cylinder wire was frayed and my 1st cylinder had a weak spark, and cylinder 6 was brittle and had some sign of exterior plastic chippage. I'm going to replace them tomorrow. If anything I'll feel better driving it to the shop knowing I have tried. these are the original wires on the car and it has 118k on it now. I realy hope this is the problem.

Re: Engine light advice
True I just wanted to try and catching anything as easy or obvious as a bad wire before I drove it again for fear of causing any damage. Since its memorial weekend my options are kind of limited, also by the fact I live in a pretty rural town outside of phoenix. Im going to give the checkers here a call its the only thing close by which is about 15miles away and see if they scan codes there. if thats the case then ill definitly drive it down today and get her scanned and see whats up.

Re: Engine light advice
Well I went and got the code read came up as random misfire. I replaced the wires and the light stayed off but now 95miles later the check engine light came on again. So I'm back to the shop where I got it fixed tomorrow. However this time no flash.
