got everything all pieced together, and it fired up right away, it sound great. didnt have any leaks or anything.

Drive it down the street, around the black come back everything is fine. I let it idle in the garage for a while then turned it off and went and took a shower.

Start the car back up and then drive to my work 15 min away, all highway driving. i pull into a gas station and the car dies on the way in. I pump gas and now the car doesnt want to start. It tried really hard. I let it sit for a little while. Started it up and it really struggled to start and i made it to my work, where it died as soon as i parked.
tried to restart and it wouldnt start. So i disconnected the battery and let the car cool down for about 30 min. Go back out reconnect the batt and it fires up right away no problem. Then the car sounded good for a little and then the idle started getting really loopy and it turned off.

    I also thru a p0101 code.

Im not sure what to think, im hopping it has something to do with tuning. Im thinking once the car gets hot it's not getting enough fuel.

    P0101 is a problem w/ the MAF.

Hmmm... just wondering here... hwo long does it take our cars to reach closed loop?? Maybe the stock tune cant compensate for the cam when actually listening to the sensors at closed loop idle

just a thought, prolly has no relevance...do you still have the egr on the car?

do you think that maybe when the egr opens it leans out the a/f ratio to the point where the fuel cant keep up wih the cam?

im probably wrong but, its a thought

haha exactly. but in all seriousness, does anyone think that could do it? the egr would open at highway speeds as discussed and at anything above idle it would run fine....

naw i dont have an egr. but yeah that does make sense haha
im like 75% sure it has something to do with the tuning. I have an as$ load more air coming into the engine, and i dont think im getting enough fuel when the car warms up, or once the computer starts to learn whats going on, its seeing the big cam and doesnt know what to do. hence the easy start after the batt disconnect

                      Re: problem after cam install

fuel and air metering system is being goofy. is your cam kinda big? the MAP sensor will be goofy cause the vacuum inside the manifold will change with a larger cam.

                        Re: problem after cam install

ehhhh, i started the car up again, its starts right away with no problem, but it running really badly, sounds like somethings loose inside the engine. so im pulling it apart again :(

I have both intakes off, crank pully, and all the front cover bolts out cept for the ones that come thru the oil pan. Not bad for less than a hour and a half of work :)

but any way im done for the night, ill update tomorrow when i have the cover off.

                          ok i found the problem

in my deprived sleep last night i only had the bolt that holds the cam gear on finger tight . soposed to be 74 ftlbs + 90* haha

putting the engine back together as we speak
