Just got my GT2 cam in the mail today. The cam is ground straight up. I was planning on installing at a 107 ICL. What are you guys installing your GT2 cams at?

Re: For those with a GT2 cam
.....I put mine in straight up I guess. I didn't really know you could change it around on our cars. I know I got the timing mess up by ~1/4" on the cam timing gear, and it resulted in my pistons being pummeled by the valves; a new motor then went in because of all the damage.~97 3.8L V6 Camaro~

Really? I thought I had a rollmaster set, and it didn't have any other keyways. Maybe it wasn't a rollmaster after-all. I wonder how this cam would run if you changed it up any :)
That's what I'm wondering. My cam wasn't ground w/ any advance. Yet i've seen a spec card of a GT2 that showed it was ground with degrees advanced. Most n/a cams i've seen are also ground this way. ZZP said I should install my cam straight up.
Who else has a GT2 cam?

Re: For those with a GT2 cam
I have the gt2, and installed it straight up. I just got a new stock timing chain and dampener (with 105lb springs). I will get back with you in a bit about installing it either a diffrent way (i have a friend that should know if their are any gains to be made). Until then heres the specs on it
216°/216° at .050"
Intake Lift .317" (.507" lift at 1.6:1 rocker ratio)
Exhaust Lift .317" (.507" lift at 1.6:1 rocker ratio)

I need to know what the ? is for your cam. Do you happen to still have the box or spec card. Is it +0 or +4?
Also, anybody with the GT1 (GM38 3324S/3324S HR113+?), what is your cam ground at, +0, +4?
Thank you.

Re: For those with a GT2 cam
Even though you installed a cam with 4 degrees advance doesn't mean its 4 degrees advanced. Differences in the way the crank, timing chains, cam etc are machined can either reduce or increase the amount of advance. Only way to know is to degree you cam. For example you could have an after market crank say from eagle and install you cam straight up. When you degree the cam, you may find its only a few degrees advanced or even more then 4 degrees. Then you can either play around with the key way slots on the timing gear or by using advance bushings to farther increase/reduce your advance.Last edited by Den69RS96; 06-20-2008, 11:53 AM.69 Camaro 350 4spd, Full Hotchkis susp, Baer brakes, moser 12 bolt, Flowmaster

96 RS Hotchkis STB, subframe connectors, Hotchkis LCA and adj Panhard rod, SS camaro sway bars, Bilstein shocks, powerslot rotors, Borla exhaust, rksport headers, k@nFIPK
