Anyone with a VS cam....

what do you think of it? I'm looking at putting one in my 96, and will be running some nitrous on it...does it like the bottle?

I have the VS cam , ran it with the powerdyne with around 8-9lbs of boost put out 288 hp and 330 TQ, I ditch the powerdyne and now run nitrous only. No dyno #'s but with a .055 jet in there it feels way more stronger than the powerdyne. I also have Diamond Forged 9:5.1 pistons, Comp OER liftes, Comp pushrods, Comp 105 lb springs. Along with suspension and exhaust mods. I like the VS cam. It is mild but it will like power adders. Also Hptuners and a wideband made it run real good.

Also I see yoour a 96' change that computer out for a 97' and get Hptuners best investment for the car I ever did.

I was looking into this cam before too; it was a toss up between this one and the GT2. From what I've been told, this is a good cam if you plan on using a power adder, but if you plan on staying N/A then the GT2 is better suited for you. The GT2 supposedly loves spray too, and is still a N/A cam.

if your mostly running N/A why such a mild cam?
why not a GT2 or Abbot N/A?
If im not mistaken the VS cam is a blower cam.

yeah, i've been told several times that the vs likes a power adder, but the vs isn't really that mild. It's designed for stock heads just like the gt2 but offers bigger gains and wont set codes from what i've read.

id get the gt1 before i got the gt2 anyway.

and when i hit the track the bottle will get opened and be free reign lol

did i mention the i drive my car everyday too? lol

I drive my car ~100miles every day with the GT2 cam on stock internals and tune. No problem :)

if you're thinking about running nitrous, shouldn't you be looking at dedicated nitrous cams, not blower cams?

that would be an accurate statement, but this is the first ive heard the vs referred to as a "blower only" cam

The VS cam will respond very well to nitrous while giving you decent power N/A. The Split duration favoring the exahust BEGS to be sprayed and will make more power on the spray than an identical cam with matched duration. I say the VS was a good choice for your application.

When I first had the VS cam in there, there was no tunning at that time, so it doesn't set off any codes untuned but has a nice lobe to it, but tuned you still feel the response from it. I think it is good all way around myself, NA, with the powerdyne I had, and now with nitrous.

I'll have to see what it does at the track here soon NA, also race Meaty once he gets his GT1 tuned. Difference is his is 3.42's and my 3.73's.
