Time for a cam

Ive been reading on the different cams for a NA 3.8 and it seems that the Abbot NA cam is the way to go.
But my dad was talking to a comp cams tech about a cam for another engine hes building and asked him what he recommended for a cam for my car.
He recommended this one:
CompCams 76-801-9: 200/206 .496/.480 112
Any ballpark numbers for this cam?
I showed the cam specs of the Abbot NA cam and he thinks that the cam is to big for a stock engine.
My goal is to be able to DD this car in the summer and run low 14's or if possible 13's.

If you are going to be going into your engine that far, why not go big the first time instead of going with a smaller cam not alot of people use then later down the line realize you should have taken the lead of many others and gone with a grind that is proven to work quite well.

My thoughts on the matter. I'd say GT2 or Abbott N/A, or look around for another custom grind people have had good luck with. The cam you said is pretty small, doesn't sound really worth the trouble. Even the GT1 is 210/210 .507/.507 113

I run the VS cam 206/216 115LS , I like it but if there was tunning software back when I did the engine rebuild I would go with a bigger cam like the GT1, GT2 or the XP.

The Abbott cam is a good daily driver from what I hear.. There are a lot of people on here and FTV6 with the Abbott N/A AND GT2.

The abbott is definitely not too big though..

If you have access to tuning, I'd go with Abbott's if you plan on DD. I personally am running the GT2 because I had no idea when I'd have access to tuning; it ran just fine on stock tune but will need injectors, where as Abbott's N/A will need tuning. Both like nitrous, both sound good, both give nice gains, and both are favorites of numerous people.

that abbott cam isn't too big like others have said. it actually has the mildest lobes that comp cams offers for hydraulic rollers.

the cam you have described is small as crap.

you might see 10 hp from that.

Abbott n/a cam has the current cam-only record for our cars ;)

I ran 13.53 with that cam and all of the supporting mods when my raceweight was ~3325 pounds.

It's a very mild cam that is great for the street.

I wouldnt even consider a 200/206.

I would atleast go with something over .500 lift and atleast 210 duration.

So im back to my original choice the abbot NA.
Im starting to get a parts list together so i need:
The cam
LS6 or 105 springs(which one?)
Retainers(whats recomended?)
New Timing Chain? (car has 100K)
pushrods and lifters if needed.
