well, before i put the engine in, i rotated the engine a few turns and all checked out... Let me tell ya, its a heck of a lot easier without the spark plugs in to allow compression to build.
so unless I'm missing something, I beleive the engine is not locked up. Though what else it could be, well.. shoot.. i haven't the slightest clue. I'm going to bench test the 3rd starter i have at Autozone, before i try that one...
theres probably more foul things at work here than just the electrical system.

a normal engine should take between 30-50ftlb to spin with the plugs in
hmm... well to be honest with you, i didn't try to spin it too much with the plugs in. It spun over without them in easily, using the balancer to grab ahold of. I probably will go home and put a tablespoon of oil in all the cylinders, just to be on the safe side. I'll pull the belt and put the torque wrench on the crank and see what I'm registering for resistance with plugs in first.

So, I got the chance to work on this thing the past two days... Here's what transpired..
Took off the belt and removed the plugs - with a ratchet on the crank bolt, preceded to spin of the motor a few revs - I was excited that the new engine wasn't seized
Noticed a few drops of water coming down the side of the block - quick inspection showed that the #6 cylinder was full of water... sweet - not sure how it got there, but i'm guessing it had something to do with the month the engine sat outside from teh time it was pulled to the time I put it in (though it was covered 98% of the time.
siphoned out all the water i could, then with the ignition fuse pulled and plugs out, turned over the engine a few times with teh starter, to blow any remaining fluids out - it worked
put everything back together, tried it.. it fired, but quickly turned off..
pulled plugs and inspected - 2 plugs good, the rest no so much
turns out i reinstalled 2 coil packs backwards (doh!) swapped wires and it fired right up! sweet!
Let it idle for a while... manifolds are smoking like crazy - guessin from grease and dirt that were on them for a while.
But the car is running! for the first time in almost a year! and for the first time with this new engine!
But it's not totally fixed yet... still running somewhat rough... gonna change the plugs and run some cleaner through the gas...
Also I have a problem with the clutch... but thats a topic for the drivetrain forums... i'll be posting there shortly - basically, its a new clutch, and i'm thinking either its not put in right, or my slave cylinder is not bled (its not a new slave cyl and this was never unhooked, but the pedal is very soft and the cyl is moving... so maybe i knocked the throwout bearing off the fork during restall??)
but any case.. thank you all for your assistance...

I have MSD coils... when i first bought them, i did a similar thing during a tune up (since they aren't numbered). I then numbered them for reference. Well, during the swap, they came out, and when I put them back on, I mixed up the order that I had them in. Since they are numbered, i put the plug wires on the correct numbers, but in the incorrect order.
i printed out the correct order, and it is now tacked to my garage wall for any future use.

oooo so you didn't disconnect the wires from the coils??
btw, you have any insight on what fuel psi your running with that afpr??

well, i initially just swapped the wires around on those two coils. after it fired right up, i swapped the coil packs around since i didn't want to go through that next time.
I actually don't have an AFPR. I was going to get one for my engine build, but I need to do more research on another website with regards to the 3500 heads/intake and compatibilities. (60degreev6.com - check it out if you've never been there)

don't be too abusive to it...I have a feeling that your cylinder is rusty and the rings are going to be ****ed....it'll most likely seize again
well, i'm not planning on beatin on the thing too hard. In all honesty, i just wanted to get my car back on the road and I was sick of waiting on my savings for my rebuild project (i have a spare block being rebuilt now, but money is tight)
I'm planning on chaning the oil every 500-1000 miles for the first few oil changes. I'll also be monitoring the plugs for signs of anything bad going on.
Any advise on additional ways to help lubricate everything?
