Yes, but you will have to take off the upper/lower intakes, accessories and heads from the motor.

It will make it a ton easier to remove the radiator and fans as well (so I'm told anyhow).

I still found it easier to pull from the bottom. I had EVERYTHING out of the bay, and it was a PITA to get the ac compressor off to get to the mount bolt.

I was just curious. I've pulled the motor before, but I was hoping I could avoid removing the transmission. I would drop it out the bottom, but I don't have a lift to raise the car up enough.

i wrapped a chain around the rad support and pulled it up, I also had the wheels off the suspension, and use a rolling cart to pull the motor out from under the car.. once I had the car up I used 2x4s lincoln logged up about 9 rows and held the car up high enough for me to use the lift to help pulling the motor from under the car, once I was clear I just pulled the k member, motor and trans up all at once. fairly easy.

              Re: Pulling a 3.8.....

I saw a right up where a guy did his ls1 from the bottom using blocks of wood and crates to get the front high enough to remove the engine, trans, and front wheels. After unbolting everything wires ETC. and having a roller on the trans and rolled everything out. Was pretty cool, done in his garage.

I pulled the radiator and the upper intake manifold...that was it. It came out clean throught the top, motor and trans.

Yes, I also saw a write-up on removing the engine from the bottom without a lift, and it did look MUCH easier than pulling it from the top.

                    Re: Pulling a 3.8.....

you can go out the bottom easily without a lift. you can set the cradle on 2 creepers, and pick up the front end by the core support off of anything that is reasonably sturdy and a cheap come along or chain fall. I use a wooden A frame I built of 4x4's. Alternatively you can go out the top if you pull the radiator, and the mass airflow sensor. iw ill just sneak out but it has to be tipped and turned. It is ugly. ideally remove the intake to come out the top. That sucks too though. I HIGHLY recommend going out the bottom.
