if you don't have it right now and you are using the same pcm then you are fine. it is for emissions

just make sure the computer is tuned for it. All it does is recirculate the old mixture that wasn't burnt into the engine

Why isn't it on both sides then?

wasnt needed. newer ls1 motors didnt have it at all, they went with a slightly smaller cam and got away with out needing one. but they kinda cheated with using the AIR pump system though.

                    my bad man. haha

if you block it off odd's are your'll set a SES light, mine did but its on for not having a rear O2 sensor so i didnt care.

dont buy block off plates, make your own. just need a drill and 2 peices of metal 1/4" is fine. i used copper gasket maker and havent had any leaks.

Just curious, because what you said, sound like there is unburned air/fuel mixture on one side of the engine... Which of course makes absolutely no sense.

it resuses the air/fuel mixture to improve fuel mileage and also to cut down on engine temps

no, they only NEEDED to have an egr on one side becuase that one lowered emmissons anough. there was no need to have one on the other side.

when combustion temps reach a certain temp, NOx is created, its a toxic pollutant. the egr lowers combustion temps so that doesnt happen.

Right. I understand the idea. I'm just trying to figure out why he keeps calling it an unburned air/fuel mixture. It's exhaust gas that gets recirculated.

yes, its the exhuast gas that gets put back into the intake manifold, becuase of that, the combustion isnt as good and thus lowers temp in the combustion chamber. its an interesting part, but i was never real big on the idea of it.

mine's only off becuase when i put my headers on i couldnt stop the exhuast leak from it, so i just blocked it off.
