    Re: cam swap

In a pinch (or if your cheap, like me) you can cut a small stip of sheet metal, wrap it around the line, and push it in. Usually works for me.

If you don't have a local auto store, do you perhaps have a Sears? They have a compression tester kit for about $70, and it comes with a pressure line for our cars. Use that line, a tool comes with the kit to remove the 1 way valve, and you can return it with no hassle. If you choose to do this, try not to dirty up the kit (gotta be a little respectful when you "borrow" tools from retailers lol.

I didn't read all of this but I was just curious why you don't go for a double roller? Besides cost they're a breeze to install if you're already goin that deep. Won't have to worry about the dampener then either.

        Re: cam swap

to save money...it isn't really needed for my application of 105 springs...added weight on a rotating part...and more of a pain in the *** to install a regular one since I gotta mill down some cover, and uninstall and plug holes....

Actually only reason I am replacing the chain at all is because I now have 202,000km on it....probably a wise choice.... I can get a single roller that is tougher then our stock one from intense for 79.99$

yeah I got a rollmaster double set for something like 150. I didn't have to mill the oil pump cover either. I even asked around from a couple of forums and emailed 3800performance from where I bought it from about it. All of them said with the rollmaster set it was not necessary to mill the cover. Also you don't have to remove the balance shaft, you can just disable it by removing the gears so you don't have to worry about pulling the engine and plugging the holes.

Either way it doesn't matter since it's a budget matter but if you ever intend to get a double roller, now you'll know :)

Just got the last of my parts....I was looking at the pushrods and they look the same on both ends...does it matter which way it goes in? I thought there was supposed to be a ball on one end or something?

                        It shouldn't matter.

no it doesn't matter, lifter has a socket and rocker arm has a socket.

So I just got in from working on the car...damn crank bolt won't come off, and the last bolt to take the bellhousing cover off to jam the flywheel won't come off either...what a piss off....

to add insult to injury I have also found out that I am loosing compression through a bent valve on cylinder #5 (back drivers side)....lovely

Im not fixing the valve yet, and probably not this year... I dont have the parts for this yet, and if I take the heads off I want to put something better on...which probably will involve upgrading the valves to...so since I havent done my research on that portion of my engine yet, its not getting fixed for now...

What is the worst case scenario driving with one bent valve?

Well you dont need to take the whole Cover off the front of the trans it is thin metal just get the starter off and bend the **** back by the starter. I didnt even take thoughs huge bolts off. You will see holes close to the center of the fly wheel, just shove a screw drive as far as you can and spin the crank counter clock wise so that the screw drive in the fly wheel gets hung up on something. Let me find a pics. How do you know you have a bent valve, ca you see that its bent?

Starter is off and you can see where it use to sit bend it back and you will see the holes on the fly wheel.

Now put the screw driver in the hole and spin the crank until it get hung up.
