If you get new pistons , most of them come with the wrist pins. Just a thought if you were going to get new pistons like forged pistons. When I bought my 9.5:1 Diamond forged pistons they came with the wrist pins and Total seal piston rings.

Well I asked the Summit rep about the wrist pins and he said they dont carry any that are explicitly listed for my vehicle etc but for life of me my dumb *** didnt ask if the pistons came with them. In the past mine always did but I guess I was thinking since the pistons were so cheap I had to buy the seperately. Lol Im going to call back and ask Monday if I got the ime and remember.

Lol I have ZERO qualms about chopping this baby up.

I am serious about it, but not right away. I have been hit left and right with unexpected bills and this has put my project behind.

Long story short some idiot wanted to ride my brand new bike and me(being the dumbass I always am...) let him ride it. He made it about 20 feet and crashed it lol! Now he isnt wanting to cough up the dough to fix it and its my only transportation because the Camaro is down and my sister took the Caddy up north to househunt. Also I got a ton of tickets on said bike before he messed it up lol. I should have all those paid by the end of the month.

So yeah I do want to get it done, but need to get the block in the car and the redone heads on it before converting the intake if I do decide to do it.

I would still like to know a ballpark figure on the conversion if you could help me with that kind sir. :naughty:

If all goes well and business is good down here then I should have the engine back in soon.

I got the bill for the block. It needed to be bored over, so I need to swap out the rings for some .030 over ones.

After that I need to order the pistons hopefully next week and get the rods redone then I can get the shortblock back in.

Still havent degreased/cleaned the engine bay or sanded or painted it anyways so I need to do that also.

My house looks like a mess with all these parts all over the place just sitting lol.

But please get back to me about that intake conversion. I would like a price like I said because if its not too expensive then I wont want to waste any time cleaning and porting the stock intake etc. And what kind of modifications?

You could ask ZZPerformnce if they have extras since they do alot on L36 & L67's , or EDMoradparts since he sells alot of them too.

                    Re: questions..rebuilding engine

Sorry I havent updated guys, I have since relocated and a lot has been going on, some of the parts I ordered took like 60 days to come in and I just decided to put the project on hold while I took care of a lot of things. Also, some dip**** wrecked my brand new bike, so that took some cash...the guy didnt pay me hardly anything...oh well..

Anyways, the pistons from Summit DO come with wrist pins.

Tomorrow I am picking up the heads from the machine shop. In the set of main bearings I bought one of them was damaged and I lost the resceipt so they would not exchange them so I had to buy a new set, and take the old ones back with the receipt and return them(retarded policy seeing as how you can jus tbuy whatever you are trying to exchange, then return it lol)

Also, I ended up boring the block over 0.020" so the rings I bought dont fit, I ordered a new Moly set from Summit...should be here Wed. or Thurs.

I also need to dro off the front engine cover to get dipped in acid to clean it up for paint, the guy isnt available until Monday.

I still need to buy supplies and degrease, sand, primer, and paint under the hood of the car. I still need to degrease, sand, primer and paint the transmission, too. Other than that all I really need to do is make sure the block still looks pretty after getting it back from the machine shop...they said they cleaned it, it may need touchup on the paint. Then I can start assembling the shortblock, check the clearances, and get this show on the road!

I bought an engine lift and stand, still need to go get the load leveler.

Anyone who is building one of these and isnt boring the block over, I am selling the rings I bought. They are Speed Pro, stock bore, Moly rings. Here is the link to it on ebay:

I will keep updated and post more pics of pretty parts etc

Good to hear, that good you got the wrist pins with the pistons, I know I got mine with the forged pistons I got along with the Total seal ring kit, but for $700 I think it should come with everything.LOL Good luck getting it back together and take your time (which it sounds like your doing ) to get everything right so you don't have to go back later.

                        Wasup man..

Yeah I am happy to finally be doing this. Yeah I am definately taking my time with it, I dont want to get everything in and later on be like..."man while the engine was out I could have painted under the hood", or "wish I had replaced everything", or whatever.

I kind of would like to do aftermarket cams but I can always do that later...I do tunes with HPTuners so the tuning wouldnt be an issue, I just want to get it together because I am using my ZX-6R as my main transportation right now and I live in South Texas and it is Farking HOT! I need A.C. lol.

I bought some degreaser, primer, and paint for under the hood today, and got the new main bearings in...the first set I ordered the thrust bearing was gouged, the second set was missing one thrust bearing....OMG Oreillys is B.S. Threee sets to get to a good one.

I still need to get more snadpaper...I have tons but that stuff goes quickly, I also have some ScotchBrite disc for use with a power drill which worked FANTASTICALLY for prepping the engine with paint.

I cannot stress how great ScotchBrite pads, Dupli-Color High Temp Enamel, and elbow grease can make a paint finish come out...even on an engine.

Hopefully tomorrow when I get the engine the paint doesnt need to be touched up.

                        Will keep yall posted!

SHould of just went with the Clev.77 bearings not too expensive but are great in quality. I used those bearings on everything I could when mine was rebuilt over 6 years ago, still running like a champ, but I'm sure if you have Hptuners and watch you KR you won't have to worry. I would say yes for it sucking riding a bike in hot weather, I did for about a year on and off here in AZ with a 93' GSXR 750 going was alright at 5:30 in the morning but 4pm in AZ riding home sucked @SS, I know why guys on bikes ride so fast in AZ their trying to get to point A to B as fast as they can before they passout from the heat.LOL. Take some pics if you can I wish I did back then.
