Hey guys. I was wondering if anyone had any idea of what is wrong with my car. Its a 2002 Pontiac Firebird with a 3800 series II engine with 60k on it. My only modification is a Magnaflow Cat Back Exhaust. The problem is that the timing retards under a load of 2000rpm and starts to studder. Does not stutter if the car is in neutral, only under a load. When this stuttering occurs it is like a smooth fast occurring cough. I am drawn away of the miss theory because its too smooth and is not back firing. In October i changed the spark plugs out and put in AC Delco Iridiums. And just yesterday put in new spark plug wires after this started occurring. When i checked for engine codes and scanned i got nothing even when the studdering was occurring. When i checked my timing when it was studdering the timing was off 10 degrees from when it was running normal. Also when i checked the voltage of the wire while the car was studdering the voltage was very high. I have a feeling it could either be the computer, a knock sensor, a bad ignition coil, or a bad EGR valve. If someone could please help me before i spend any more money! THANK YOU!!!!
