      24505576 MAIN BOLTS (14) $50.79
      rocker arm bolts (12) $42.61

      crank pulley bolt $18.00

You wont nee the camshaft position sensor...I broke mine when breakin the cam gear bolt loose.. :(

Keep in mind that there is a possibility that you will snap and/or strip some bolts out taking it out...I stripped the rear passenger intake manifold bolt and one bol on the tensioner bracket. Also snapped one of the exhaust manifold bolts off...I would bet money that you will too, those get rusty and like to stick.

It is also a good idea to take the block and heads to a machine shop and have the block and heads hot-tanked, and if you can afford it have them run it through a media blaster..it makes the block look BRAND NEW. Sweet Im telling ya, nice and shiny. :)

The hot tank for the block, heads and the brass freeze plugs was $80.

This cleans off the muck and makes it a decent paint surface. I am still going to take some scotchbrite discs and a drill and give the block and heads a once over.

Also, you will need a pulley puller/installer and a nice breaker bar to remove/install the crank pulley, valve spring tool to disassemble/reassemble the heads, cam bearing tool and a slide hammer to remove and install the cam bearings. Some swivels and extentions to get to some bolts, and a decent selection of wrenches.

Another PITA is the fact that the main caps are pressed in...you will need a special tool and the slide hammer to remove the main caps. You want to check your clearance and be able to remove the caps easily without marring a crank journal. You can get them off if you plan on removing the crank and replacing it, so messing the old one up isnt a problem...but once you get the new crank in there you need to use the plastiguage to check the clearance, and then you will need to remove the main caps to remove the plastigauge after verifying the clearances are within tolerance, so at that point you cant get the caps off without messing up a journal or bearing. Trust me, get the tool.

OR you can make your own, check this link:
      http://www.grandprixforums.net/f81/3...oval-2631.html

Also, dont forgot costs like the engine paint(Duplicolor High Temp at AutoZone is $5-$6 a can, youll need 1 primer and 1 color)

While its out it would be a good time to sand and paint anything that bolts to the engine like the brackets, motor mounts, power steering pump, etc ,etc.

Im all OCD so I decided to degrease and paint everything under the hood and the transmission crossmember and torque arm and mount. Also going to clean the tranny off to make it look as good as possible.

The whole painting thing isnt neccessary I know but it makes the whole process seem that much more worth it to pop the hood and everything is shiny and fresh looking.

You got any questions let me know :)

I can get pretty much anything.

What you need for your rebuild depends on your engines condition and what your goals are for the car really. You can boost a stock engine just fine or build it up to handle boost too. Some of the fastest cars use stock l36 bottom ends ;)

oh yea and Chris, those rings come with a statement "Not for use with OEM piston---must use Sealed Power H840P piston". So I would make sure they are correct for your setup before using them.

Im glad you said that because that is what the dude gave me lol. Thats one thing I dont like about some people that work at auto parts stores...sometimes they dontknow what they are talking about. The last week or two I have been dealing with this one guy Manny and he is cool as heck and knows his stuff so I dont have to worry about that anymore.

Crap now I gotta go back up there with the rings lol.

Thanks man, glad you said that!

I would double check it to make sure. go to www.rockauto.com and do a part # search. Those rings will come up and the disclaimer is there

Yeah thats the site I went to.

Oh well guess I will just buy the pistons...f it. May as well while its torn down. Also the thrust bearing they gave me had a knick on the surface so I gotta wait for another main bearing set to come in.

                  thanks again man

Thanks so much for the info, i am thinkin of goin with 7psi boost on a daily basis and just jackin it up some when i wanna mess with people so i wanna build the motor to handle it so i don't have to do it again cause of a weak part! what is your opion on the stock pistons and connecting rods? also any suggestion on a good cam to use with a turbo setup. and i would be grateful for any other tips, this is my first rebuild on my car and my first turbo system ever so i am a NOOB when to performance parts and what i should use and steer clear of

Oh and as far as i know the engine isn't in that bad of shape its got just over 110k miles on it and doesn't make any abmormal noises or knock

                      Re: Lookin to rebuild

7-10psi can be done no problem on stock engine.

As for cams and such, depends on what you have for tuning capabilities.

also why a rear mount? I would go with a traditional setup instead

as for tuning i am thinkin of takin it to a tuner and havin it tuned and having it run on the dyno cause i don't think i would be able to tune it myself. I figured doin a rear mount system would be better for me cause i wouldn't have to get FFH and a intercooler and i will also keep my under hood temps down

you don't need FFH, you can run normal headers and just use an under Kmember setup.

FFF make a under k setup that runs great times on stock engines
