  • Putting an LT1 into a 2000 3.8 L?

I found some really cheap LT1 engines and wsa wondering how hard it would be to swap out my 3.8 and put in an lt1, and also what parts would be involved. I already used the search feature and found nothing about going back to the lt1, only forward to the ls1.

with a newer car like a 2000, you are better off either going ls1 or just buying a v8 instead of stepping back to an lt1. if you had a 93-97 car I would say go for the lt1

It can be done, but will take a pretty penny to do

There was a question sometime last year... maybe on another forum. Basically, it's more work to make the LT1 work than putting in an LS1.

The ls1 is a far better engine with all the after market and its easier to work on than a lt1.

I was looking into doing this with my 98 a few months back and basically found out that with all the stuff that has to be changed and all the work that has to be done, its not much cheaper than putting in an ls1
