So I got a cam in today, but the specs on it are different than what I was told they were. They are 534/547 lift, 215/220 duration, Lobe center 113. I have Blue ls6 springs and stock retainer's will I be ok? If not what do I need to be able to run this.

Re: Cam spec question.
Blue ls6 springs are fine they have a similar seat pressure as the comp 105's. you also need to change the stock retainers to something along these lines https://www.zzperformance.com/grand_...=108&catid=104
stock retainers have too high of an install height

Re: Cam spec question.
I don't think that's too much lift, as long as he put in the modified retainers, Viton Valve seals, and such. IIRC, even if the engine rotates without binding, if you didn't modify the retainers, you might not be fully closing the valves, and doing damage to your lifters.
Let us know how it runs, also, what kind of cam is it? Custom ground? For the 3.4 or 3.8?

Re: Cam spec question.
His profile is a 3.8 , If that is the total lift with modded retainers and V-guides he should be fine up to .550 but that is pretty close esp. if he didn't use modded retainers. Some rate the stock rockers between 1.66 and 1.7 instead of 1.6 , then he would be in trouble in the long run.Last edited by ssms5411; 03-11-2009, 12:02 AM.08' L76 6.0L 4X4 Chevy EXT.Cab LTZ Vortec MAX with Snug top cover, Dynomax exhaust,Hptuners& K&N intake

Re: Cam spec question.
Make sure when you install it, you degree that cam to it's spec, then rotate the engine to check for binding. You could run a static compression test to check for valve seal. That cam's specs look like it would have a good midrange powerband, I'd say 3500-6400.
Make sure you get some bigger injectors; I think with that much lift, you're stock fueling system won't be able to match the incoming air. Also, get that thing tuned ASAP. With that much extra air, you're gonna be maxing out your LTFTs, and your PE AFRs are gonna be way off (that's bad for power)
What are you using to tune?

Re: Cam spec question.
I checked it for binding, it cleared, and I have GTP injectors and right now I have a pcm4less tune but when I get some cash Im planing on HP tuners, and the cam is a custom ground comp camLast edited by semperverax; 03-14-2009, 07:18 PM.

Re: Cam spec question.
As long as your using ZZP modded retainers and Viton guides you might be good , but don't try to use the stock retainers because you will run into alot of problems. The PCM4less tune is garbage, you will need a wideband and Hptunrs yourself to tune the vehicle properly so it doesn't blow up. I run 36lb injectors and it took me at least 10 runs to get them dialed in right not including idle and crusing speeds. I wouldn't drive it without a wideband and Hptuners with those 36lb injectors or even stock injectors. Just giving you a heads up, got to pay to play. I just don't want you to see your engine blow up because of a bad tune.08' L76 6.0L 4X4 Chevy EXT.Cab LTZ Vortec MAX with Snug top cover, Dynomax exhaust,Hptuners& K&N intake

Re: Cam spec question.
I forgot about this post, but I figured I'd give an update. I've ran the car for about 6k miles since installed, not a single problem. Car runs like a bat outa hell from 3200-6200 I easily keep up with my buddies 07 g6 gtp 6speed with CAI and exhaust. Could do better with a hp or dyno tune but decided to go with a 6.0 swap instead of a tune.
