This is going to be the start of my swap. I will probably be updating information in approx. 2 weeks (they said it should be in by then). Until then, let me know if you have any questions, concerns, etc. on what you would like to see from the motor and the swap. I will try to make this thread as clean as possible and will try to provide many pics. Wish me luck!!!

Re: Swap Thread: Series II to Seriies III
It's the cost factor and the fact that it has larger valves and powder coating connecting rods. The motors are almost virtually the same. These motors can be modded well and I think I will probably be the only one on the forum with a series 3 turbo'd fbody. Originality at it's best lolCar expresses who you are. Re: Swap Thread: Series II to Seriies III
I have the L32 rods in mine with my forged pistons, did this in 03' when they first came out with the L32 rods replacing the L67's. Haven't had any trouble even running a 150 shot a couple of times on the steet, 125 shot normally about 15 bottles through it in all. I would get comp 105 springs zzp modded retainer , Viton guides , stock locks , and some comp 5/16 pushrods and throw a nice cam in it since the motor will be out and you'll be swapping over the top end, also Comp OEM lifters would be nice also. Beef it up when you have it out of the car. Could also do a double roller and go with 130lB springs so you could run just about any power adder and not worry about springs or timing chain. Just throwing ideas out there. I spent over a year collecting parts when I had my engine rebuilt, just the replacing of like FPR, and gaskets timing chain etc. from GM ran about $650 then I had all my parts and the GM mechanic hooked me up because my dad ran the service dept. $750 to rebuild the motor for labor, can't beat that, I still talk to the guy so if my engine goes with the turbo I have some more goodies to add.LOL he said he would charge me $30 a hour if I needed work done. Sweet!!! This was before I got sick so maybe he would take somemore off.LOL Good luck on the build.08' L76 6.0L 4X4 Chevy EXT.Cab LTZ Vortec MAX with Snug top cover, Dynomax exhaust,Hptuners& K&N intake

Re: Swap Thread: Series II to Seriies III
lol thanks. I think I'm gonna leave the motor fairly stock for now besides boost. these motors are easy to come by, so next year when I graduate, i will most likely buy another motor with low miels and build it then. I'm only going to be looking to push around 300rwhp out of this one with my turbo, so anything over that is just icing on the cake. The next motor I build will be built solely by me (hopefully) and I will be looking for around 500rwhp. I still have my truck if I can't get this thing running right. ATM, I need to hunt down a decent hptuners. i sold mine a looonng time ago and need it now badly lolCar expresses who you are. Re: Swap Thread: Series II to Seriies III
OK pics will be coming later. For the first update, it looks like I will have to use our original oil pan unless I can come up with something crative. Also, the oil pressure switch is on the side, so I may have to elongate the harness or retap it into the front and plug the side hole. The water pump and lots of the other accessories look the same, except the PS. I'll be pulling the intakes today and we'll see how that lower one compares to ours. Anyone want any certain pics of anything?Car expresses who you are. Re: Swap Thread: Series II to Seriies III
UPDATE:
I have the accesories all pulled, pulling injectors and fuel rail hopefully tomorrow. i'm trying to come up with a way to use the oil pan currently on there, but not sure if I'll be able to. It has an oil level sensor that would make the pan very convenient for an oil return line.
I also need to pull the intakes, but I'm waiting until i get the gaskets and the other motor out. Meaty, was the oil pressure switch on the side of the block for you too?
I'm thinking about elongating the wire and swapping to the new connector and retaining the current position of the oil filter. Otherwise, i'm going to go with a remote oil systemCar expresses who you are. Re: Swap Thread: Series II to Seriies III
motor shows good compression, I am using a remote oil system and will not be keeping the ac most likely. So far, the only other thing I have noticed that will need to be changed are the brackets themself for the ICM housing and other mounting brackets. Also, the alt bracket will need to be changed, along with injectors, fuel rails, and a few other misc. things. I'll take pics of any custom parts neededCar expresses who you are.
