hmm. that is defintly a thrown rod =[
wht happens is the rods get weak over time. (at the cap or at the piston head connector) and in other cases/ the rod will just snap in half (sending the piston head to the top of the cyl, wall and thus SMASHING into the spark plug. (you prolly blew a head gasket doing this)

                yea//bad news man. im sorry

hmm thats why you engine isnt turning. your ROD and BINDING up the crank and will not turn because of it

without the spark plug the engine turns with ease

....hmm wow, that one threw me for a whirl.
well...damn. well that means you threw a bearing (on the main cap of the crank or the beaing seat for the piston rod. (which would allow enough play for the piston head to shoot up and hit the spark plug.)

do you have any after market rods? or pistons?(those are the weakest park of our engines)

                          Re: engine wont turn

its gonna b easier to turn without the spark plug being in. The cylinder doesnt build pressure

                            definitly right with that one.

id be willing to bet money on the bearings though.

HOW ELSE would the piston head be able to hit the spark plug>?
its either that or the rod.

WHICH ITS NOT cause he can turn it.(and im guessing he didnt hear anything clunking cause he would have said it.

You'll have to pull the head to see if the valves were hitting or the valve broke and is on the top of the piston. Did you degree the cam when installed? Checking valve to piston clearance.

                                are you serious?

how in the hell will a bad bearing make a piston contact the spark plug?

seriously, almost everything you have said in this thread is bad advise

his problem is most likely a valve problem, and not a connecting rod that has snapped in half....
