Hey all, I have a quick question. Is there anyone else whose 3.8 camaro burns oil? My car has 82,xxx miles and I last changed the oil at 79,xxx. 500 miles ago, I topped off my oil with half a quart and today I noticed that it is again, a half quart low. Is this normal? I never see blue smoke exiting the tail pipe and I don't have an oil leak. What do the gurus say??
Mine never needed oil between my 3000 mile oil changes.

yea mine burns a ton but i hardly ever see that smoke coming from the tail pipes either, i think on this oil change alone i've had almost 3 extra quarts added from being burnt down or whatever else. i know it's not im my coolant, so idk what to do either. i'm just gonna add some lucasoil oil stabilizer on the next change and see what that does for me.
Thanks everyone. I'm doing an oil change tomorrow and will see what happens for the next month or two. If it continues I guess a compression test is next as my coolant is clean too. Someone suggested that my catalytic converter may be plugged and therefore no blue smoke, thoughts on this theory? Car runs hard and sounds great BTW.
What are everyone's thoughts on high mileage oil vs conventional? Worth the extra $$$ ? Can't afford synthetic right now...
well that's also another problem... i dont have any pools of oil leaking onto my driveway either. how exactly does a rear main seal leak work? how would i be able to tell if it's the rear main seal?
I switched to RP 20w50 and have no leaks but my tranny leaks.SOB
