  • Rear Window/Hatch issue

The devices that hold up the rear window, located on each side of
the rear hatch seem to have been worn out on my 2000 Camaro.
    I need to know:

    Can they be fixed?
How easy is it to replace one or both of them?
Any idea of the part cost?

    thanks

Yes they can be fixed. I have this same issue. It's a cheap fix so you can find these parts at AutoZone. www.autozone.com

I called and a new one is $27 each, called a Lift support.
Is this what you are talking about? If so , what is involved in installing them?

you pretty much just take the bolts out nd put the new ones back in and bolt them up

I'd get a big @$$ wrench though and a good torq bit set. I had an extra set of weatherstripping so I tried to swap them out and take the struts off, tried for a good 10 minutes and didn't get anywhere. Just gave up because I didn't actually need to swap the weatherstripping, but it was on there reeeaaal good.

                    Very simple repair.

I changed mine when I bought my car.

The hood lift struts are even easier to replace.
