new holiday touchups

rolled up the sleeves over the holiday here and decided it was time to get a few things underway on the BallerMaro and actually a little work on the z28 :D

first, i bit the bullet and decided to go with the berger mod on the z as well. as i was working on it in the garage, it turned out so well i was inspired enough to rip out my berger on the 6 and redo it again with a more gloss black. while i was in there, i discovered a few bulbs fading and not working, so i got some brighter bulbs to shine through my shaded tails as well --- much needed.

i know i dont post much about my ls1, so as soon as the rear inserts and z28 badges ship and i put them in, i'll post pics of her and of the redone BallerMaro.

as for more updates, i need to do some maintenance things on the 3.8 (blown header gasket, corner bulb out, warped rotors, etc...) so while i'm taking care of those things i figured i would throw in a few things:

-R1 concepts or BrakeMotive drilled/slotted rotors and ceramic pads
-32/21 sway bars and energy suspension bushings/links
-aluminum d/s
-replace front speakers
-(possibly now, but definitely soon) ss spoiler
-(possibly now, but definitely soon) posi lsd

any thoughts or suggestions more than welcome --- pics and progress to come soon

hey I'm doin aluminum ds as well, just gotta replace the u-joints so i dont have to later.

and if you have stock front speakers, u will notice a HUGE difference in aftermarket ones. I have alpine 6 1/2s in my doors, and alpine 6x9s in the hatch, along with 2 10" kicker. I hope to one day hook up my extra 2-channel amp to my door and hatch speakers :D

I just did R1 concepts d/s in back with ceramic pads and powerslot slotted up front with ceramic pads really made a big difference been about 5-6 years on the R1 concept D/S rotors all around. Got my rear QA-1 rear shocks in(thnaks to Meatyshells). Also did the newer rack and pinion upgrade, from a F41 16:9 ratio to a FE2 14:4 ratio big difference when your doing 50-60MPH, just move the steering wheel a 1/2" and it will respond. My next stuff is Earls brake lines, ploished radiator shroud, install AEM electric boost controller and methanol injection kit. The 32mm front and 21mm rear is what I have and if you have stiff springs and adj. shocks then you should be good to go, just watch the steering at higher speeds it can get dangerous if you don't know how it will respond, because it will under steer you if too fast on a turn so practice your turns and know how it will respond. Other than that they work great together, your straight line performance will be more noticable with the 21mm. Good luck.

thanks for the responses fellas --- any other testimonies to some of these upgrades are more than appreciated :tup:

koa - i checked out ebay for the rotors, looks to be my best bet. type in r1 concepts camaro rotors or even just camaro (year range) rotors and plenty of options come up. the ones i'm looking at from r1 are about 350 shipped f/r with pads, but i found the BrakeMotive brand of very similar quality for less too.

When I bought my R1 's D/S zinc coated about 6 years ago it was about $130 shipped for all 4 rotors and then they screwed up and sent me 2 extra rear rotors which I didn't mind.LOL

yeah mang, they look much better along with the redone berger. my ls1 gto buddy liked it so much he let me do his "berger" trunk panel and wants me to niteshade his tail too :rock:

damn i wish that were still the case. the cheapest quality ones i found are the BrakeMotive ones i was talking about and it's still almost 200 for f/r shipped.

yeah it's the sebring silver '04 ls1 A4. got him to tint his windows and we'll be shading his tails, so it actually looks good. he's starting to sweat the performance now though, bc the BallerMaro actually takes him from a dig and a roll to 60 before he starts closing in ;)

also just surprised my girl for xmas with some 8000k hid's for her explorer and put them in yesterday ---- they look nasty, she loves 'em :tup:


but anyway, my buddy is waiting on new emblems just like i am for the z28, so as soon as everything has arrived and is on the cars, plenty of pics will be up.

also just finished up with my buddy's gto niteshaded tails with the berger, i'll get some pics up of that when it's daytime and i can get some --- looks really good IMO.

update: just ordered my drilled/slotted BrakeMotive rotors and pads last night along with an aluminum driveshaft, some mirror finish stainless doorsills and custom decals, and still on the search for a good deal for my sway bars.

also have a deal on a posi unit in the works and 3.73's to kick it up a notch if that goes well.

making the BallerMaro just a bit more ballin' one day at a time haha.
