C6 Auto Shift knob for firebird..

I want to install a auto corvette shift knob on my Firebird a4 instead of the bulky t-handle. I am looking to buy an C6 knob for a good deal. Can it be done? Is it the same process as installing a Camaro knob? Here is a picture of the shaft and knob for an auto C6 http://media.photobucket.com/image/0...z/IMG_0267.jpg

why not try the camaro EDIT: "shift" knob? looks pretty similar to me, and would get rid of the T-handle...

I would just like to know if it is possible. I prefer the Corvette knob because it is shorter and has a look I like better. I also do not prefer the T-handle which is why I was asking if it could be done. So my question is still will this shift knob work on my 2000 Firebird?

idk whether or not it will fit but you can cut the stick down an inch or something and put a maro knob on there.

I'm pretty sure it's been done before. Either the C6 shifter or an earlier TBSS shifter could be done. There are a few threads on LS1tech about it, along with steps to modifying your current shifter.

Would it go on just like a Camaro/firebird a4 shifter? Would you just pull out the stable and slide it down on the stalk?

this was the first thing i changed on mine. i hate those big t-handles. i used a camaro knob (looks just like the one in the pic you posted) and it was a piece of cake.

pull the staple out of the T-handle.
Slide off handle.
Slide on knob.
Insert new staple.
