    Re: Caliper paint

There's a kit you can buy at PepBoys. It comes with instruction and everything.

I plan on doing mine in the Summer. It's been raining quite a bit now in my area.

      Re: Caliper paint

I went ahead and bouight 2 kits just in case and will def. double coat each caliper real good, I had a $50 Checker gift card so $36 for 2 kits wasn't bad, and I will be doing mine in silver, I'll post pics once I get them done. I went with silver since I haven't seen too many with it, just red mostly and I think with the zinc coated new rotors and chrome rims it will look good.

Good to know, I'm going to start on mine this week , since the rain stopped finally until wed. I think. I'm just going to double coat them since I bought 2 kits or just put it on relly thick. Also polish my chrome rims up while I'm at it since I can sit there and not stress my back out.

              Re: Caliper paint

I'm so tired of polishing chrome. I tried to keep my 02 wheels as nice as I could but it was to no avail. The brake dust got to em and they corroded and peeled so bad. So going with the hyperblack finish with my 98 was so nice to be able to actually clean them without destroying myself.

haha i hear that, I got the American Racing chrome cleaner for mine, it was pricey but worth it. It takes everything(rust, dust, ect) off of my rims. But its still a pain in the A$$.
And yea i got the duplicolor paint kit prom my store, probably going to start on it thursday or so.

i was talking to this guy who's brother makes like custom wheels, and he said polished stainless steel is the way to go. it looks the same as chrome but lasts way longer. only problem is their stupid expensive lol.

                      Re: Caliper paint

Thats a good deal, I think I got my price down to $550 shipped for my chrome ZR1's, but went with BFG G Force 275/40/17 tires that were around $500 to be installed on them. Next time I'm going with the 17X 9.5 and chrome 17 X 11 chrome ZR1 deep dish style they look outstanding.

                        Re: Caliper paint

I've been thinking about doing this myself but does anyone know of a "how to" on removing the calipers to paint them? Cause it's so cold here and the weather is so bad that I need to take anything inside to paint it.

                          Re: Caliper paint

You'll have to remove the 2 bolts that hold the caliper on and the brake line. If you remove the brake line you'll have to bleed your brakes after you reinstall them. I'd personally wait for better weather.

I don't mind bleeding brakes, done it plenty of times before. Try the rear lines breaking twice in one day haha. that was fun

Eh, maybe it wouldn't be so bad for you working in the cold on the ground but for myself.. I get enough of it at work every day so lol, anything I do in my free time for fun has to be comfortable. Like a nice garage.
