Hey what caliper paint do you guys use that requires the least maintinence. I keep hearing about this polyurethene paint. Just looking for other opinions.

    Re: Caliper paint

its not really maintenance, but rather the prep work you do, i used a kit that you can buy at advance auto/pepboys/autozone, i think its made by duplicolor, as long as you clean the calipers real good, and give them a nice wire brushing they should be fine, i didnt take the time to do it, so mine are all chipped

I've used two different types of engine paints, and currently have Dupli-Color caliper paint on mine, and never had a problem with any of them chipping or scratching or whatnot. It's all about the prep.

And this is regular old caliper spray paint if you want to compare.

              Re: Caliper paint

I got that kit from autozone myself. Probably the same duplicolor one everyone else got. That paint was really cool. When it dries a little it starts acting like hot plastic and gets real stringy. Yeah but like everyone says, the prep work is really important.

yea ive actually been doing body paint for about 6 months now, and I came to realize that prep was everything early on. But i seem to remember some one saying the paint ALWAYS chips. But i think they didnt really know what they were talking about.

                        Re: Caliper paint

I used POR 20 (2 coats with a brush) on my calipers and rotor hats...brutally strong, no scrathes or chipping. However, I used the silver color and did not clear coat it and within 2 months my calipers turned/faded into a goldish color. I actually prefer this faded color (been on for over 10 months now) as it is unique and looks great under the black rims.

One of these days I will do my calipers in red or maybe chrome color if they have it, I think it would be cool.

For the dupicolor kits , does one kit do 2 calipers ? So if I wanted to do all 4 , front & rear I would need 2 kits? I'm going to do them in silver.
