  • z28 gauge cluster in v6 car?

i just talked to a guy down the road from me with a junk z28. he said $120 i can have whatever i want from it. except the motor(which is what i only wanted) but im going to take the 3.42 posi disc rear end, steering column and a few other odds and ends. my question is it has the 150mph speedo. would it work properly if i put it in my car? i have the 115 mph speedo.

Have to tune it afterwards I'm sure.

Yep, it will work, but the tachometer will be off some percentage...I don't remember exactly what now.
When I red line at 5400RPM, my Z28 cluster reads somewhere in the 4800RPM region, so if you drive a manual, you would probably be better off sticking with the V6 cluster. Everything else works correctly, though.

yeah its a stick. the main reason id want to put it in is because the body has 204k but the motor i got put in has roughly 102k and the cluster has 118. so its more accurate for the motor

he said i could take the whole car for 120. he just wants it gone after he takes the motor and stuff to make the motor work in his 72 el camino. so if anyone around me needs parts let me know. i live in central mass

Re: z28 gauge cluster in v6 car?

its between 93-97. its the lt1 car. it has front end damage and the trans is toast. doors look good. hatch looks good. it was dark when i was looking at it. i stopped just to see if hed sell the tails to me. got those for 30. then he said "you know what since you bought these from me ill sell the whole car to you for 150... no 120 after i take the motor and everything i need out" i dont have anywhere to keep the car to part out so id need to take all the parts i want from it then he will junk the rest of the car. it doesnt have the front seats and wont have the motor computer and fuel pump. and after i take what i want it wont have a rear end driveshaft steering column gauge cluster or wheels. my friend might take the K member because he wants to do a motor swap and that has everything he needs. but doors and hatch and rear 1/4 and i think both fenders are good. not sure.

i was actually going to take that too. this 2 piece business isnt working for me haha the first one that came with the car broke when my rear end blew up. and the only one i could find was a 2 piece at the local pull apart. if you just need a driveshaft ill sell you my 2 piece cheap once i swap everything over.
