  • Window Replacement after Vandalism

I Was gonna make a late nite run to Burger King and was shocked to discover my driver side Window completely bashed in(glass everywhere) . No surprise that my stereo was taken(What sucks is I know I should have been removing the face) Clearly the work of vandals

So at this point I need to replace the Window. I've never replaced a window before, but I figure I can get one from a junk yard on the cheap.
How difficult is the Job? Does anyone have any tips?
    Any help would be appreciated.

Its a pain in the *** to set, because you have to make sure that the window sets in the frame right as to seal around the rubber trim. You could probably do it yourself, but Im actually a little hazy as to tell you whether or not its glued into the rail or screwed in.

Might as well grab a whole door with the glass still intact if you can.

My driver window has actually gone off one of the rails and gotten misaligned, it took me forever to put it back on correctly and tighted up the loose bracket.

Dang! So they are a headache?
I found someone who said they would do it for 80 bucks. I'd rather do it myself, but I might have to get a pro on this one.

As much as I am against someone else doing installs, this might be a good idea. Let someone else worry about setting it appropriately, least then if it doesn't seal right, take it back to them.

agree with mogobs (that sounds weird... lol) but i'd take it somewhere, preferrably somewhere that guarantees their work...
Rebuilding the engine... Building a custom front end... T-top conversion... Custom rear hatch..
            Custom interior...

i had to do it in my 81 monte. i closed the door one day and it shattered everywhere. very nice. it was pretty easy. havnt done one to my camaro though. so its probably completely different. but id take it to a shop if youre having doubts on doing it yourself.

This will give some idea on where to start.

I've done it to my 89 bird, but I haven't done it to the 98.

It is a lot of work. You'd be better off getting the whole door.
