  • Tinting a set of 93-97 Camaro Tail Lights

I bought a pair of stock tail lights for the 93-97 camaro. I plan on tinting and selling them, but I really have no idea what the going price is for these anymore. I checked on ebay, but almost all of the tail lights listed were the alteeza crap.

It was a $50 deal I couldn't pass up, but I had to drive over 60 miles to pick up. They don't have any cracks, but one lense has a very minor scratch that I'll buff out before painting.

Also, I'll be professionally tinting these with a spraygun. I mix automotive grade clearcoat with a small amount of standard black automotive paint to get the desired shade, then spray.

I'll try to remember to take pics as they're drying.

I bought one tail light for $35 a while back. That seemed to be a decent deal. So for a nice tinted set, I don't think $100 would be out of the question.

How will you be tinting them? Straight black or leaving the reverse light un-tinted?

We tint lens covers for $80 a pair using 3-4 coats black automotive paint with a clear FYI...

I thought of both options, but I'm not sure yet. Is there a favorite among the f-body owners?

I did a set for an '05 GTO last october, and I left the reverse/turn circles un-tinted. I didn't get a chance to take any pics because they sold as soon as a few freinds stopped by to see what I was painting. One girl wanted them for her phantom black '04 goat, and didn't want to even wait for them to completely dry first

i'm a big fan of those style tails with the reverse lens clear and a nice deep tint on the rest, i get a lot of compliments on mine for that, and it follows the lines of the hatch and looks much cleaner IMO. if you do it that way, keep me posted --- i might be interested in some for the z28 :D

I prefer the reverse light untinted as well.

I got mine tinted at a body shop, but they threw it in for free with all the other stuff I was doing, so I had no idea on a price. You may be able to get more out of them, then.

I didn't go too deep with the tint. I kept it at about 35-40%. The picture was taken with a flash, so the tint isn't showing too well. These are tinted, but shouldn't grab too much attention from the law. I left the backup (clear) area alone, and just clearcoated it.

I'm going to wetsand and polish these tomorrow.
