I just don't see the point of the rant if you know its not legal in the first place. You KNOW their going to fail you, peel it off, and go pass. Or let the car sit.
My car is 15 years old, so I don't have to worry about inspection. But I have been ticketed for the tint on my Monte Carlo. I refuse to remove it, and I told the judge that. Since my car was registered in Indiana and not Illinois, he could only have me pay the ticket that was issued to me, which was $30. Pissed him off, but I don't care. If you want it on there, then fight it. If you don't want to deal with the courts, then peel it off. *****ing about it makes NO sense.

You shouldn't have gotten the ticket in the first place. You are not subject to ILMVC, but the state where the car is registered, which in your case is Indiana. IL can not write you a compliance ticket since they have no jurisdiction.

I have some 7 tickets from a few local departments and the IL state police for an expired INDIANA tag on my car, which I refuse to pay. My license and tags for the Monte Carlo are all registered, titled, and issued by Indiana, so I don't get how IL could give me a ticket for an expired tag, and then have me pay IL. I have those 7 that I refuse to pay, but IN has issued me 1 last year, which I paid within hours, as well as got the tags current for BOTH cars.
As far as I am concerned, IL is a joke of a state, trying to collect whatever funds they possibly can.

What's this expiration date on inspections you speak of? I heard that from someone awhile back that when a vehicle gets to a certain age that it no longer needs to be inspected but brushed it aside as stupidity.

You said your car is over 15 years old so you don't have to inspect it anymore? I've heard more or less the same thing from someone else but didn't think it was true.

It all depends on the state. IN has no inspections at all, while here in IL, if the car is over so many years old, or has so many miles, they don't require inspection. I haven't looked into it here when it comes to the fine details, I just know that both the cars I own are too old to fall within the category of being inspected.

IL doesn't have an "Inspection" like TX or other states, just verification of emmissions compliance.
I had gotten a ticket for tint last year when i had a scion tc....and my tint was 20%....had the car brand new in '06....passed every inspection with it from the dealer...now last year out of nowhere got pulled over for it they said our legal state (NY) limit is 89% lol and the rear can be tinted at any %.....all i had to do was pay a fine of like $120 and if dont pay i get arrested!!!!!!! come on over tint!!??
Haven’t done anything on the Camaro, but put LEDs on my truck headlights . And my oil pressure sensor went out on the truck so going to fix that this...
