I had gotten a ticket for tint last year when i had a scion tc....and my tint was 20%....had the car brand new in '06....passed every inspection with it from the dealer...now last year out of nowhere got pulled over for it they said our legal state (NY) limit is 89% lol and the rear can be tinted at any %.....all i had to do was pay a fine of like $120 and if dont pay i get arrested!!!!!!! come on over tint!!??
You live in a stupid state anyway. Move out.
1995 Pontiac Firebird
2008 Chevrolet Silverado LT Crew Cab 4x4
lol i didnt have to pay a fine, just a compliance paper... and if i didnt comply i got my plates suspended and a fine
Wait, Is that a V6 or V8? 1990 Chevrolet C-K 1500 series 4.3L .. 5spd
1994 JDM Euno Roadster 1.8L 5spd Bolt Ons.. etc 2000 Camaro 3.8L Auto Bolt Ons..etc
Peel it off, go back to inspection, and pass. End of story. You know its not legal, why do it and waste the money, then come here to *****?
This.
Interesting there are people here encouraging you to do illegal **** (peel it > pass inspection > reapply illegal tint). There are laws like this for a reason. I dunno, so cops can see who's in the car? So pedestrians can tell if you see them before they try crossing the road? Speaking of which, how the heck can a pedestrian see you if your car has that much tint? I constantly use hand signals when in foot-traffic heavy places (mall, grocery store, gas station, um... anywhere but the interstate). Even at a 4-way stop, how do you signal to other drivers? (not everyone's smart enough to know who has the right away, and better safe than sorry, right?)
Or maybe you've just gotten used to flashing your headlights at everyone instead... I don't know. People are creative when it comes to breaking the law.
i see ur point about other drivers and people, but it just comes down to a personal preference thing with tint --- if i could get away with 15% all the way around i'd have it in a heartbeat, i just love the look. i've currently got 30 sides and 15 back and i still want darker honestly, i've considered moving it down to 25 on the sides once i get the 'maro back on the road.
as far as being illegal, i've never *knock on wood* been pulled for tint and i have the same even on my jeep. people can see in the car, i can see out, and inspections are never a problem. being picky about (moderate) tint is like saying you would never go a mile over the speed limit, and the way i see it, if i get pulled in the camaro, a cop is more likely going to ask me why the hell it's so loud or check out my niteshades work --- tint can be changed.
