Whitdog54, I believe you took my reply as hateful and I apologize. I did not intend to come across that way. As for using the term "ricer", I use it and will continue to use it. If it makes me appear to be immature, thats okay. I'm a pharmaceutical technician who wears a pocket protector to work with short sleeves and a tie. I learned a long time ago that I was not cool and probably never will be.

Congratulations. You've made the list of people that I like today. Enjoy that honor while it lasts!

Re: Question about tint and T-Tops

I'm gonna go ahead and say it's ricer, too, because it's a cheap way to get some shade. If you hate the sun that much I'd say invest in the sun shade inserts. They're just a lot classier and get less strange looks. If all else fails, tint them. But PLEASE don't rattle can any glass parts of your vehicle. It's just.... wrong. Have you thought about what others will say when they're riding shotgun? "Oh cool you have a sun roof!" *they reach up and tap the glass* "Why isn't there any sun coming through? Is it open?"

"Well, you see, I spray painted them."

Disagree if you wish, I've said my piece. Do as you please but just take this into consideration.

I wonder if it would be possible to create my own shades using that stiff, plastic board material and wrap it in headliner fabric from Hobby Lobby? I'm not even sure where to buy it.. perhaps Lowe's or Home Depot. That might turn out to be a cool do-it-yourself mod. I will see if I can give that a try first..

Who gives a **** about what others think of your car? If you're modding your car to please other people, I feel bad for you.

As far as making your own shades, it would be very simple. I would even make them for you and sell them to you at little to no profit if you want.

Uh, I think that's why the term "ricer" even exists- because people do things to their cars that other people would call "ugly" or "distasteful". If you really don't care what other people do to their car, I don't know why you're even in the "Body/Appearance" forum. You could pretty much post what you just said in every single thread.

rice is a term that describes doing mods to a car to make it look fast when it actually isnt.

putting a wing and racing graphics on a honda civic is rice. painting t tops black so sun doesnt come in does not make the car look any faster, or anything and is not rice.

I post in here to give my opinions. I don't care if they take it to heart or not. And I make threads to show everyone the progress I've made on my car. Not to feel accepted or rejected if people like or dislike what I did. Regardless, the point is it's your car so do what you want with it, even if that does mean doing what other people like. By the way, I like cam98aro's definition of ricer.

My offer is still out there Jtels.

Materials, shipping, and maybe a $5 profit. Don't quote me because I don't know the price of the materials, but I doubt it could be much over $20.

Sounds good. My interior color is light gray, but black would also work just fine. Do you know where I could find the velcro dots that are about a nickle in size? I believe that is what held the OEM shades in place.
