  • factory camaro ground effects installation?

i got a set of factory ground effects to install on my car. obviously the car didnt come with gfx and as such, i dont know how to install them.

the front and rear pieces are pretty self explanatory.

there are 8 small holes and 4 larger rectangle holes on the skirts though. im guessing the 8 small holes are for plastic rivets. do you need to drill the mounting holes? theyd be towards the inside of the car.

what holds the 4 larger holes at the top/outside of the skirt though?

    i found this: http://www.partswebsite.com//stores/...sC/CD93445.gif

im assuming i need 4 of #2. but at $8, and 8 total, thats $64 on fasteners. anyone have some spares? anyone have a real picture of one? how do you install em?

I added some ground fx to my ss. It's simple, just mock the front and rears up and use plastic rivets you can buy at any auto parts store, and yes you will have to drill the holes. Start small and work your way up. You want the rivets to barely fit in the holes. And as for the sides, it is virtually the same. Drill the holes and plastic rivets. Although on the sides I also installed little "shelves" with real rivets on the body. It's hard to explain, but its the way they come from the factory. They have these little metal "shelves" and maybe someone who removed the'r ground fx can show a picture or something.

You are right - those metal "shelves" are the key to the side GFX fitting tightly and in the exact right spot. My W68 GFX came from the factory

I used regualar self taping screws on each of my ground effects, like said just mock them up before drilling , also helps to have a second hand to help out. I got sick of the front ground effects on my 96' Camaro so I just had them molded on when I had it painted once, came out great. I should of done the rear also , the sides I wouldn't do since the front part by the door and the rear is metal. So they would have to be cut off if needed to be replaced.
