  • Dash Replacement

Anyone here replaced their dash? The front part with the gauges, radio, HVAC controls, and glove box. I intend to replace mine with a 2002 black one.

          Re: Dash Replacement

When I took mine apart it completely broke into pieces. You have to take the driver and passenger side pillars off to sit the dash down correctly, it just snaps in place and then re-install the pillars.

I am pretty sure he is talking about the entire dash, not the upper dash lid. I don't know anything about it FIrebirdGT, but wanted to clarify because people were getting confused. Good luck!

              Re: Dash Replacement

If you are talking about the entire dash, it could take a while. At the worst I'd say around 8 hours tops.

Shiiiiit its not too bad man. If you have know your way around your tool box it should take 2 hours if you do it alone. I get a freind to work on one side and I do the other. Im sure there is some info on ls1tech. I know guys that do it all the time

Stay positive and dont get frustraited.

                Aaaaaaaand good luck

Good luck Robert, just label everything and just take your time, I know you'll do a good job since the rest of your car is nice and clean. I hope it is easy for you, then you can do a newer cash in my 96'. LOL I'm about ready to just get a VNF dash and delete the air bags and cut vents for the A/C.

                    Re: Dash Replacement

When I was dismantling the parts car I had a while back I removed the entire dash assembly out of it in just a few hours working by myself, and it really wasn't too hard as long as you're patient... I never did any re-install, but I can't imagine it would be anything you're not plenty capable of...

                      Re: Dash Replacement

I have the same plan for the future. I'd imagine the easiest way by far would be to have a parts car that you can reference through the process. The only trouble spots I can see would be the wiring of the gauges, hvac, and such, as I'm not sure if the wiring is the same.

I wish I could give you some insight into the project. But if you do end up doing it, I'm sure some kind of a writeup would be greatly appreciated by many members!

I want to see where the velcro is to remove one without breaking it.
