I have to buy new front and rear bumpers for my Camaro sometime soon. I was just wondering if it would be easy enough to paint the bumpers myself or to just take them in?? I really don't have any experience in the body work area, but how hard can painting them be?

if you don't know what your doing it can be tough.. I would suggest taking them in to be honest.

If you check ebay you can get the front bumper already painted and shipped to you , I think they do the rear also so it might be better to do it that way.

The only ones I ever see on ebay are the ones that are primered. I've never seen them where they are painted...Think you could send me a link to one?

Let me see if I can find one for you its not in their heading but in their paragraph down below I think. I think I kept one on my watch list in case I needed to swap out a new front end.

Just to let you know I had a front fender done from these guys for a 00' grand am and it turned out perfect with the paint matching, they did a outstanding job on painting it, well worth the extra money to get the part and then put it on. Good luck

ahhh thanks for the links man. It says that they charge an additional $165 to paint it...do you think that that's cheaper or more expensive than a local shop would charge to do it?

I don't know where you live , so it just depends on who does it and if they know what their doing, and do a great job. From D&H they have it painted and clear coated and it turns out great.

                    Re: Painting Bumpers

I agree with steve, and yes, it's likely much cheaper.

I got a new rear bumper from a place on ebay, it may very well have been the link steve posted, and i'm very happy with the final product. It was really nice to avoid the hassle of finding a body shop, taking the bumper to them, waiting for them to paint it, and then taking it back before putting it on. I also had a fender done by another seller on ebay, and while the paint isn't as clear on that one, it was still worth the extra money as opposed to having a shop do it.
