  • Maaco Paint Jobs?

Anyone here ever gone through Maaco for a paint job or anything? I needed my bumpers painted and they offer a fairly cheap price for doing it. Just wondering if anyone had any opinions on them? Thanks

JUNKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK! I know people that have went there and to be honest the paint looks great for about a week and starts to flake off.

Depends where you go and what you have done. Maaco has painted all my cars and yes it doesnt last a long time but it looks good w/out spending what our cars are worth for a paintjob.

Before my wreck had it painted at maaco, was still looking sharp 6 months later.

and after the wreck I decied to go with Viper Red since black was so hard to keep clean and I had gotten red parts anyways.

For 4-500$ I say its worth it. Just do a little prep and you'll be just fine.

Presidential. 250$ here where I live. Then whatever you add on to it, raises it a lil bit.

The black paintjob was 420$ total and the red was done for a tad over 500$ with door jambs and a lil bit of body work.

there is nothing wrong with one of these paint jobs if you do the prep work yourself.

So do you think they would be able to match the paint pretty close since I just need the bumpers painted?

they should be able to.. just as long as you sand the paint down, and make sure everything is good, then primer it, and sand that and have them paint it.

                        Re: Maaco Paint Jobs?

Okay here's the deal with Maaco and I'm not defending Maaco in this post but I do get tired of people bashing them.

You get exactly what you paid for meaning if you paid $300 dollars for a paint job you are getting a $300 paint job. People expect a $5000 paint job for $300, it don't work that way. If you want your car to come out looking decent through maaco I highly recommend that you prep the car yourself maybe even rattlecan the primer on yourself then right to the paintshop it goes.

But as far as allowing them to do all the work they aren't going to do a great job for you unless you pay premium dollars. They are the best place to take your car if your paint needs a simple touch up and you like the original color of your car. Its also perfect if you are about to sell your vehicle.

In my situation they wanted to charge me $4500 to make my camaro from this chipping grey color to black(What it is now) I said **** that and I did a roller paintjob to mine. I got a lot of haters for that but hey I like the car so **** em.:P I only paid $200 to transform the car to the way I want it to look.

I did Earl Schieb once but , it started to go to crap after about 18 months about $800 total, then I had it painted by a private guy who used all GM painted , clear coat etc. still looking great after 2 years, they even changed the color from white to black and hen I use the black box on it , it looks brand new. That was $1900 total. Can def. tell the diffference in the paints and prep, theay too out 3 -4 dents , 2 huge ones were I fell on the car.LOL

                            Re: Maaco Paint Jobs?

If your going with the same color I think maaco is the best way to go.

As long as you do some prep yourself. It's all in the prep is why some have had problems with there work.

If you pay under 300$ for a paintjob its not gonna last very long cause you're pretty much just paying for a few coats of paint from them.

Anybody will tell you that its the labor that costs so much.

Thing about those shops id they spray what ever primer color they have in the booth on it , so it coul be a mix of white /red/blue primer then they shoot the base coat a feew times really thick and depending on the level you picked a few thick clear coats, mine had runs it it everywhere so they had to sand and buff them out. Its funny one guy tried to use paint thinner on a run and it messed up the front quater panel , right in front of my eyes , i told my self what a dumb@ss, they had to repaint it. LOL
