Moisture in the reverse light

My passenger side reverse light had moisture inside the enclosure today. I took out the taillight assembly and dried out the whole thing.

Anyone else have this problem or an idea how it happened? This is the first time this ever happened on my car. I'm hoping this was a fluke.

Just leave it out to dry and make sure the rubber gasket by the bulb isn't jacked up and if need be replace it.

Honeycomb tails right? If so thats a common problem. Water gets inside and causes them to dim over time.

The fix/trouble spot is on top where the lens meet the plastic you have to silicone to reseal them. Overtime it opens up and lets water in.

I need to do this to mine as they havnt been done yet and you can see where it may start leaking. (let me get a pic for example)

I looked around and whenever i saw posts about this issue, it always seems to be the passenger side light. It must be something about how that one was made that causes it to leak first.

PS - Your tail light assembly was dirtier than even mine on the inside!

That was actually a broken tail light I had taken off for example. :P

It can sometimes be the pass side, but... I used to have a set that had been dimmed and siliconed too late after the damage had been done.

Water gets inside and somehow makes the reflective coating on the inside turn black and w/out that there useless. Poor design or $ making deal for GM I dunno. But these are sure expensive in good, bright RED condtion.

Same thing happened to my Camaro lenses this Spring. I noticed the tail light lenses on both sides were damp on the inside. The tops of both lenses had separated from the casings enough to let water in. A little silicone sealant and they were good to go.

Wow. Did not know camaro's had that problem. It's usaully just honeycomb's.
