  • Got DR. & Pass. air bags out

Took awhile to get the Pass. air bag out but its out and it does weigh abit. between the new steering wheel and taking out the air bags and module in the center console I bet its about 30-35lbs weight reduction. I'm taking out my subs for now also for another 100lb rear savings, since I'm not driving alot. Heres a pic of the Sparco steering wheel , still waiting for the hub adapter. When its all out I will weigh it to see how much it is.

I'm just taking out the 10" Alpine type X speakers with their boxes and grill covers. They are sub thump boxes that weigh around 18-20 LBS and the speakers wiegh 32-34LBS. So alittle over 100LBS. I'll leave the Otipma Batt. 40LBs + platsic container, methanol trunk mount container with pump and controls 10LBs empty, 1 hifonics amp 10LBS, and 1 Boston Acustic amp 15lbS and all other speakers mids/highs. So 75lbs+ in the rear to help for traction.

hey ssms you know i always got questions for you lol...pardon with asking this question that has nothing to do with the thread but its better than making a new one...to add the second batt to the trunk did you have to use a battery isolator?..also about the steering wheel was it difficult? cuz i wanna change mine also...how much did you get yours for?

                .

I took most of it out and used some open end wrenchs in some tight spots, my top dash was already cracked to pieces , so it helped , but I squezzed it out the top. I'm putting it back together tonight, my back was killing me lsst night, so I'll do that and wire in my SLP line lock wires and take out the middle section under the center console.

For the exra battery I run a 2 200 amp circuit breakers I have a 10LB Dyna batt. up front and 40LB Optima in the in rear , since my ALt. is a 200 AMP ALT. I have a 200 amp Isolater I bought somewhere still loooking for it, LOL. Steering wheel I'm still waiting for the hub for install, to put the new one in, I just took out the air bag for now, I paid about $280 for the steering wheel and the hub adapter, I post pics once I get the steering wheel in.

Man, you really are taken this racecar stuff seriously. That's awesome!!! It's about time someone from here started taking the V6 to the next level.

Got everything out including the center console section for the air bags, werid thing is no air bag light is on , when I pulled the fuse before doing all this it came on and when turning the ign. to just on it would flash and go off, but now it doesn't even flash either , so either I'm lucky or my air bags never worked. Either way no air bag light on the dash. Also got my subs out damm their heavy. Dropping the car off Fri. for the rest of the engine work to be done, should be done in 3 days then the turbo kit can go on.

Finally got my steering adapter , which is not Sparco its a Momo , I hate when people advertize one product and send you another, I didn't even get the 6 bolts to connect the 2 . I emailed Fttp Josh York who I will see what he says from his email back. But the Momo adapter says # K 2401 on the side. Will get pics when done. So beware of Fttp , I could of bought the Momo adapter at checker for $60 instead of $98 from his online store. This is the second time he has had mislabled products, last time was the 1.7 roller rockers he had for $300 which they never made for the 3.8. LOL Install wasn't hard at all about 20-30 mins. and thats just becuase of cutting cripping wires for the horn. I put a pic of the hub which does fit nice and tight, I see why there wasn't any instructions for any of the parts , pretty self explanatory.

Since your swapping wheels, did your old one have radio controls?
