  • Carbon Fiber Hood- yay or nay?

Alright, my stocker hood is pretty chipped and instead of getting it repainted, im thinking about getting a carbon fiber hood. Its not rice, if you really think so then you are a fool because look what cars today have carbon fiber and where it originated from...Formula 1 racing almost 25 years ago. I think a carbon fiber hood would go well with my red&black theme i have going on with my car. Plus the weight savings would be nice too. Anyone know of any carbon fiber hoods that are not SS?

I think the carbon looks good if it is accented with something else. Definitely looks perfect on a red car.

I think just the hood would look a bit out of place. Why not a carbon SS hood? They look sweet!

I agree- it would look good with a red car, i just think having an SS spoiler and SS hood just screams (im trying to be a V8) idk i dont want to fake an ss, who knows it may look good?

Unless you paint it red, it's rice. Looks goofy on an fbody. And Formula 1 cars don't have hoods, not to mention F1 and IndyCar use carbon fiber for strength as well as weight reduction. Personally, just doesn't belong on an fbody.

i think it would look good painted and mask off some stripes and leave them cf. i saw ,a few years ago, a camaro with a cf ss hood all painted except the scoop looked really good.

Don't try to tart it up by call it a roadster. It's a Miata.

Re: Carbon Fiber Hood- yay or nay?

Maybe if you could find something with a mildly raised cowl and paint the hood body color, leaving the cowl carbon fiber. Or maybe the stripes as mentioned earlier, but a straight up carbon fiber hood to me looks like a mismatched junkyard part from anything other than 5-10 feet when you start to see the weave.

I agree withs Schlotzky. There's a Z28 that runs around here and he has a CF hood with a cowl and it looks good, not rice at all. Go for it mang.

+1 on CF hood painted red with masked off stripes.
