there is flat black matte wraps out there to, and even glossy black ones. I was actually even thinking of looking into a solid colour glossy black vinyl and doing the car in that.
vinyl is less prone to chips/scratches has no swirls...you don't need to do a 15 step wax job/clay bar on it...just wax it. Protects your paint underneath (its like having a clear bra except coloured all the way around the car.) The colour is even throughout unlike paint it can have colour variations.
And besides, most race cars you see with the sick paint jobs etc...it's all vinyl :P
I just want to run my hands through it, it looks like it feels sweet. I would like to see what you can do with this.
Wait, Is that a V6 or V8? 1990 Chevrolet C-K 1500 series 4.3L .. 5spd
1994 JDM Euno Roadster 1.8L 5spd Bolt Ons.. etc 2000 Camaro 3.8L Auto Bolt Ons..etc
i think paint owns vinyl... but i say do it. if you have fitment issues do the darkest color you can. maybe just do the roof hatch and hood..thats where most uv damage and stuff happens. and paint the rest? just throwin out suggestions.
I think I might do a bit of research on how to apply this yourself and try it on my neon beater...that car couldn't have worst paint going through a sandstorm anyways... If it turns out well I might just do the camaro myself...I'm trying to find pictures of a black and red carbon weave that many people are talking about...
Don't get me wrong I love the painted look, but it chips so easily...especially now that canada HAS to use water based paint...crap flakes off like sunburned skin after a little abuse...
I would just worry about it like peeling or lifting off? Maybe due to heat or water? I'm all for it I would just hate to see you spend your time doing the whole thing and then the corners start to peel of something
Apparently they don't...you ever see those cars around town with advertisements all over them? I have a neighbour with krombachaer beer all over his truck that has been like that for 2-3 years now driven in all weather salt/snow and his looks brand new still...
Wtf? Water based paint???!!!??? Has to use it? Id come to the states to get it done then.

new environmental laws here...For me to go to Buffalo is a PITA, I'd have to leave the car there a couple days atleast, which means renting a vehicle and hotel for those days, time off work/school...still pay $3000-$5000 for a quality paint job, and the moment a rock comes or a grocery cart or car door...the paint is chipped up again.
The way I see it is vinyl is like the clear bras people put on...they are very resistant to stone chips, scratches, etc...and if you do get damage on one, you can peel it off that panel and replace it, you dont have to worry about blending paint and then having colour skews...
I might just go for a glossy black vinyl rather than carbon fiber....I might order some samples shortly and see what everything looks like.
I also think I am going to try doing the mirrors on my beater...if I can do the mirrors flawlessly, I shouldnt have an issue, and I believe you can get all your materials for under 1000$
The way I look at it is like this...if materials cost 1000$ and last 5 years and you replace it every 5 years, thats 3,000$ spent in 15 years and the car looks new.
With paint you're gunna spend minimum $3,000 and you would be lucky if it still looks new after 5 years if you are DDing the car...
