wraps have a shelf life. Over time they will crack. I am in Florida and it takes about 2 years for a wrap to dry out and stark cracking. I personally think it looks good. thats my 2 cents.
Do it! And that trans am looks pretty cool, although I'd still rather have a red one :naughty:
They have a red carbon fibre version of the material! Are the 3M Di-noc versions cracking in florida? Because I heard there is a "cheaper" knock off version that doesn't last.
So far most of my research says they last the 4-5 years with proper waxing of them, and a lot of these guys are based in North Carolian...and I used to go down there for vacation...sun gets pretty hot down there as weell...
to get a good vinyl that won't wrinkle with the curves of your car, your going to spend ALOT of money.
now, even if they tell you it will last 3-5 years, it won't
EVERYTHING screws up decal. if you get tree sap on there it could stain it. if a pebble jumps up and nics the decal it will take a small piece off and with the next change of season it will dry it out causing cracks. if you have a tiny piece of dirt under the decal it will work its way up and cause air bubbles. etc
i've had my stripes on my camaro for about 8 years now, and they needed to get replaced 4 years ago lol. only way i got away with out changing them is that the car never goes anywhere lol.
Is this a joke? Really? Carbon fiber has been overdone so much, just walk down the car isle at Walmart and every cheap piece of **** has fake carbon on it. Do you really want to wrap painted fiberglass body panels with plastic that looks like carbon fiber resin? It serves no purpose other than allegedly for looks. Its like wallpaper for cars. I mean, if you liked cedar closets, would you wallpaper your closet with a print that looked like cedar wood?
</begin sarcasm> Personally every time I see carbon fiber on something I think "Ooooh a McLauren F1" </end sarcasm>
What's next, engine covers that make the v-6 look like a v-8? or how about putting a rotary v-tech sticker on the bumper?
I think just takes a fool with money to buy carbon fiber parts, but it takes real guts to paint over them. So where does that leave the imitation carbon wraps?
So where do you place rims? Or polished valvecovers? Or dual exhaust tips when all our cars come with one pipe from the Y back, or how about leather seats? Or or or...all that stuff serves no purpose other than looks.
See I kinda like the look of carbon fiber, but I don't like when one body panel is carbon and nothing else is, unfortunatly no one makes doors/fenders/trunk etc of carbon fiber or I would consider buying parts a bit at a time until the entire car was c/f with the weight savings.
And I don't exactly care what people think, you won't be at a stoplight long enough for me to hear anyones opinion...not to mention I can't hear anyone over the motor anyways...there's a reason I need to shut the car down in drivethru's and why I've been yelled at because people infront and behind me can't hear and order...
Kristen you bring up some good points though...tree sap is a hugh problem I have here...
Rims - yes they can be just for looks, Polished valve covers, definitly looks, and easier to wipe clean (functional looks bonus?), dual exhaust tips - sure right there with the 5" diameter tailpipe,
BUT leather seats I draw the line at. Here you are comparing plastic wrap that looks like something functional but is really does quite the opposite with leather which is both nice to the touch (except when blasting hot), stain resistant and durable and pretty to look at.
It's fine that you don't care what other's think, but then, why wrap at all? If you just want a "oooh how pretty, I wish I could do that too" effect, then well: "oooh how pretty, I wish I could do that too."
Hey everyone! I've been trying to remove my transmission for two days now! I need to replace the clutch. Only thing I've got left holding the transmission...
Hello, so I changed the front bearings on the bird and the ABS inoperative light came on. I made a mistake of not removing negative battery cable. Now...
I usually have to double, triple my headlight switch for them to come up on my 97 Firebird. I cleaned all connections. Could it be the headlight switch...
