  • Cracked dash repair

So I guess through all my leaving the windows down and using a sun shade, the heat still got the better of my 11yr old car.

I have a single thin crack that runs the length of my dash from the windshield to the middle of the passenger airbag.

Anybody know a way to fix this, maybe something that will seam this back together?

    Re: Cracked dash repair

I saw a thread one time, where someone took it out, glued it all back together then covered it with some thin vinyl. It looked great. Ill see if I can find it.

at the age it is and where you live 11yrs is a good spand. to be honest, i wouldn't waste my time trying to repair it. you should just buy one from the up north(pa is great) and replace it.

if you keep what you have your only going to get more cracks if you dont shatter the thing just trying to get it out.

If you wrap it how is gonna keep cracking? Read the write up. Fix it this one time and be done, instead of buying another piece thatll probaby crack during shipping or when you go to install it or just over time again. be safe and wrap it LOL

to be honest...i don't like the way it looks wrapped.

you can find them used cheap enough and with shipping insurance why worry about breaking durning shipping.

and like i mentioned...if it is already cracked....pulling it out....will only make matters worse. i wouldn't be suprised if it broke into a few pieces.

Yea, if you dont like the looks, then thats different. But it wont continue to crack if its wrapped. Just doesnt make sense.

Pulling it out its gonna crack? yea, probably, but who says these POSs wont crack during shipping or even reinstall.

If you like the way it looks wrapped, do it. Because i dont see many dash pads selling around me, and if they are, they aint cheap. $100+

                            Re: Cracked dash repair

The only real solution is to replace it (not too hard, if you have T tops) or put in a mat to hide it.

Mine cracked after only a few years from when the car was new. After that, I've been careful to always use a sun shade. My replacement is still in excellent condition.

And yes, the old one cracked into a bunch of pieces when I took it out.
I solemnly swear I am up to no good.
